I'm tired...I've lost all interest in politics. Stopped watching KO and Rachel and TDS. Hardly visit
DU lately. Maybe it's just this long agonizing wait until the inauguration or maybe I OD'd on politics in the weeks running up to the GE.

:( For the love of Bob, won't someone help me get my passion back?!

sure you'll feel a little bit better.

If it's all about Hillary please try to focus on the fact that Obama picked her.

And, please, she is not going to bomb or Iran or start any other wars...that job goes exclusively to the President of the United States.

We have a lot to look forward to, really.

Even if you live away from the offices of this organization, they would know who else is working on the same thing in other areas of the state. Many times these campaigns employ coalitions of different groups so you can find some folks who you mesh well with.

Looking around on the net i see there are groups on mybarackobama.com that are geared specifically toward lobbying for health care over haul.

There are also groups like Progressive Democrats of America organizing states to work on the health care over haul.

And Democracy for America is also doing work as is Move on and others.

and politics in the past. Sometimes you need to either rest or get your life in order. Don't worry, the fire will return when you need it. If it's not there right now, then maybe a part of you is telling you to devote your attention to other matters.

In spite of the fact that I have taken breaks before, I have always come back. If it's in your blood, it's in your blood. It's still there, waiting for the right moment to come out again.

Remember how so many of us were pretty much biting our nails in the weeks leading up to Nov. 4th? Watching every poll and every little fluctuation with a mix of hope and trepidation? It's not at all surprising that you would be exhausted after all that. Go easy on yourself. It'll come back in time.

Or look at it this way: the election was like a great big orgasm of ecstasy after a particularly intense bout of lovemaking, and now it's time to drift off to sleep. :D

so I'd take a break now and prepare for a new era.

I've been obsessed with politics for several years now and I am exhausted as well. I'm forcing myself to watch non-political movies and that has helped. I don't jump up and run to the computer every five minutes!!!

I still watch Keith and Rachel, but I've cut back on everything else.

Major announcement from Barack

David Plouffe, BarackObama.com

Today and yesterday, President-elect Barack Obama announced key members of an economic team tasked with creating jobs, stabilizing the economy, and getting our country back on track.

Barack is bringing together some of the best minds in the country to make swift progress on the economic challenges we face.

Timothy F. Geithner, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, will serve as Secretary of the Treasury. Lawrence H. Summers, former Secretary of the Treasury under President Clinton, will serve as Director of the National Economic Council.

Christina D. Romer will serve as Director of the Council of Economic Advisers, Melody C. Barnes will serve as Director of the Domestic Policy Council, and Heather A. Higginbottom will serve as Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council.

Peter Orszag, currently Director of the Congressional Budget Office, will serve as Office of Management and Budget Director, and Rob Nabors will serve as Deputy Director.

Watch the video of Barack's announcement yesterday and learn more about the economic team:

http://my.barackobama.com/econteam

Barack's economic team has already begun work on a recovery plan, and he'll provide progress updates in the coming weeks. He'll also provide their initial recommendations to the incoming Congress.

You'll be instrumental in generating support to pass legislation that puts America on the road to recovery.

While we can't underestimate the challenge we face, we also can't underestimate the opportunity we have to bring the change our country needs.

Thanks,

David

30. I'm a hard core addict. I swore off Morning Joe once during the campaign
because Joe and Mika were making me crazy. I took a trip to California which only drove me deeper into my addiction since my dtr and s.i.l. are both addicts, too. Then, mercifully, I went on a prescheduled trip to Spain. Most places had no CNN even if they had newsstands where I could get an International Herald Tribune. Internet access at thehotels was 5 euros for 15 minutes so thehell with that.

I got back the day before the election and had to catch up for 24 delicious hours, lots of it on DU. Wall to wall election stuff.

Now it is just sinking in that Obama is the next President. I had only one fading throb at the supermarket when I saw an article about Michelle and I thought "Oh I hope that won't hurt Obama in the polls." It took me an instant to remind myself that he'd already won!

69. Oh, you too? I was wondering if any other liberal had this strange thing happen to them?
It was inadvertent. It just "kicked in".

So happy it's gone now. I really think we liberals were in an "abusive relationship" with the republicans for so long we had a kind of "relationship" with our abusers. Not to put a too fine point on it, however. It was just slight.

Anyway, it is finished and the new term will begin and really is already beginning! Hooray!!

progressives or liberals...to get things done. It is a myth, that the left are populists. Most of the work for good, that has ever been done in history was by those that have no names, and are not written about in history books.

Also, most liberals, most of the time, don't ever see how their work creates change in society.

I am also kind of distressed about some of people that Obama has decided to surround himself with, the tax increases for the rich, and wondering whether any Justice will ever come to those who broke our constitution with torture, wire tapping, renditions and all of the other house of horrors.

I think I set my expectations to high regarding change, but time will tell.

64. There's only one solution
Get the heck away from it all for a good while....from DU, anywhere else you post, TV, or anything that reminds you of politics or news....and get yourself immersed in nature. Get into the woods on a regular basis. Go hiking, climb some small mountains if you're at all fit (Stay on the trail!!), just get into the woods. After a while, Mother Nature will revive and refresh your spirit, and your passion will return in better ways than ever. :)

68. Instant Runoff Voting and Public Campaign Financing at the State Level
it's a full time job

it doesn't matter WHAT the issue is... if it's a problem, it has it's roots in the evil symbiosis between corporations, lobbyists and elected representatives

if you want to restore representative government in america... if you want the green agenda to move forward....

you KNOW who to call... and you KNOW, what must be done

peace out

76. Well, ranked voting at some level. IRV still has spoiler problems of its own. But I totally
with you on the public financing. I'd like to see proportional representation as well, but I think that's pretty much a long shot as well.

Still, worth fighting for. :)

72. I think it's normal.
A lot of people I know are feeling this way. We all knew before the election, that Obama winning wouldn't instantly solve everything. It would only be like putting the car back in forward after being in reverse for eight years. There is a lot of lost ground to make up for. We're still in a really bad place. But I just imagine how I could be feeling if McCain was going to be sworn in Jan. 20th, and if I need any more incentive to cheer up, I take it a step further and imagine what if something happened to McCain and his VP had to step in.......:scared:. Everytime I think of that, I feel a surge of ecstasy again that Obama won. I really didn't want to have to leave the country. :)

75. I'm tired too, and it's OK to step back for awhile, BUT......
we still have much work to do - don't forget that. Obama's election was not the endpoint and he will need our support once he takes office more than he did during the election.

Take time to enjoy the holidays; rest, then get back out here after the inuaguration. We need you! :hi:

the analyzing and over-analyzing is enough to drain anybody:crazy:

I have been taking a break and even got rid of the internet for now at home. I use the library until the first of the year. :D

81. I Stopped Listening to Air America Pretty Much
back to NPR - ahhhh.....

I attribute it to Obama being elected, and in charge - I can take a breather from 8 years of anger, 2 of which were on the edge of my couch watching the primaries & GE. It's over and I'm feeling calm again.

Besides, I'm sick of Randi Rhodes saying that if it weren't for her, none of us would know jack shit that happened over the past 8 years.

I still like Ed Schultz, but don't listen for more than one hour.

Backed off the tube a bit also - including KO - I record it now, so I can buzz through it in 20 minutes. Watch the News Hour for the whole hour instead.
