SHOCK: The Moonie Times lies about President Elect Obama's Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/25/obama-camp-denies-dont-as_n_146452.html

A member of Barack Obama's transition team is denying media reports that the president-elect has decided to delay efforts to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" until 2010.

An Obama transition team spokesperson, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the decision on how to approach repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," which prohibits gays from serving openly in the military, would be made after more experts have joined the Obama administration.

This is what happens when you run with Moonie Times' stories.

1. I just want to note the words "how to approach repealing.."
I find those words very comforting because while the Obama team may not know exactly how they will do it, they fully plan on doing it somehow.

3. no profiles in courage award for obama on this. Truman integrated the military by
executive order - http://www.redstone.army.mil/history/integrate/welcome.html for some history on the subject. He didnt sit around and wait to see if it was gonna affect his reelection creds.

4. He will probably delay it until he replaces Gates. Procedure requires it.

The legal procedure for changing this is for the Secretary of Defense to write the policy. Given that he wants to retain Gates through at least the beginning of the withdrawal from Iraq, I imagine he will wait until Gates is replaced.

Who knows, Gates may have told him he would resign before writing a gay-friendly policy?
