The Mall of America may be ridiculously large for a shopping center, but it is also fairly compact and is not suitable for the type of crowds that Obama dressed as Santa would attract. And when you consider the security that would be necessary the mall becomes even less suitable, it would be a nightmare to provide adequate Secret Service protection in that place.
