(CNN) — Former First Lady Barbara Bush was hospitalized in Houston, Texas, Tuesday night, according to a family spokeswoman.

Spokeswoman Jean Becker said Bush, 83, was admitted to Methodist Hospital for testing after complaining of stomach pain for several days. She arrived at the emergency room at about 5:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET) and remained at the hospital as of about 9 p.m. (10 p.m. ET).

Jim McGrath, a spokesman for Bush’s husband, former President George H.W. Bush, said all of the tests were negative and that she is expected to be released either later Tuesday or early Wednesday.
