1. So Brokaw was just temporary? Thank the lord.
I think Chris Matthews should do it.

2. Brokow has been horrible
It seems like they have narrowed it down to David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell, Gwen Ifill or Chuck Todd.

I'm not the hugest fan of this group, but please, don't make it Gregory (he is the worst IMO)

4. they're considering Gregory??? oh fuck no
why don't they just use Scarborough?? goddam idiots

I agree Matthews would be good for that. And that's not to say I've forgiven him AT ALL for the way he was a cheerleader for Bu$h.

9. Of that group, I'd have to go with Chuck E. Tawd.
I agree with you on Gregory. Mitchell's not much better, IMO, but I'd take her over Gregory.

26. Todd ???
I don't have a particular issue with him, and in fact, like him a bit.

But, his experience is analysis, not interviews. Seriously, I have NEVER seen him do an interview. This is the FLAGSHIP news show for NBC that is supposed to feature THE political interview of the week. And, they are going to give the job to someone with no experience in doing interviews? Also, it seemed that while he got a lot of play in the runnup to the election, as it got closer and the day itself, he kind of got backshelved.

Unless they are changing the format, I don't see Todd here.

Mitchell has HORRIBLE speaking skills, she mumbles and stutters and AT HER BEST is barely understandable.

Ifill. By far the best pick, but do they put a woman of color into that slot?

IMO, Gregory seems to be the golden boy right now, and is a very dutiful corporate whore. I would be VERY happy to be wrong, but that is where mh money is.

16. I like Chris's no fuss style...but to rough for Meet The Press.
I agree with what someone mentioned below. I think Koppel would be perfect for the job.

Assuming, as I do, they will name from within the NBC "stable." Schuster's the only one that comes to mind.... Any others?

5. It will proabaly be Gregory
Out of those, Matthews is too partisan. Ifill too (but not really though) Tood isn't that good on the mic IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if they go free agent on this one.

11. the article mentioned Ted Koppel as a wildcard...
That would be great, but since he says they haven't spoken with him, I'm guessing not.

I could probably stand Chuck Todd the best. Ifill maybe, but she can be quite partisan as well (remember she was Condi's best gal pal)

I used to like Gregory. Now, he is just repulsive--he's become a RW hack. Maybe that was necessary to gain the broad support needed by some in managment, but I'll be pissed if they pick him. Say what you will about ABC's This Week with Stephanopolis, but he manages to tow the center line.

The guy's 68. Seems an odd, interim-ish kind of choice.

34. I know it would NEVER happen, but Christian Amanpour has the type of skills and temperment
I'd like to see as host of MTP.

But I'm sure she has a 100 year contract with CNN.

So, I'd like to see Shuster or Gwen. I can live with Todd and I'll still watch.

If they pick Gregory, my TV will never be turned to NBC on Sunday morning EVER AGAIN.

8. I've heard Hillary has floated a rumor it is her, forcing NBC to offer it to her
Of course, because of some obscure passage in the Constitution, she may not be qualified for the job.

Sunday Talking Heads" at the Huffington Post. You can keep up, laugh, cry, participate, and say to yourself "thank you Jason."

Ifill was the favorite after Tim died, but Gregory has raised his stock during the election and since.

21. I'm not thrilled with any of them
but of the four, Ifill and Todd are the least objectionable. Gregory is totally unacceptable and Matthews is too enthralled with his own boring opinions/reminiscences to contribute in a positive manner.

i hated his style but with the talk of replacements it really shows how most of these people suck.

(i'm excluding people like Bill Moyers and Dan Rather who would be great but would never be considered)

35. Saw him interview some Congressman yesterday. It was awful.
He read the teleprompter. Badly. I thought it was insulting to this member of Congress to have someone with no experience or credentials interview him. Why on earth did they even hire this kid? If he's going to be in broadcasting at all, he needs to start out reading the teleprompter in some small market local newsroom. Like everybody else.

Yet, not sure how good he is at this format. That being said, I would still take him over the others...Gregory? Mitchell? Yuck. Maybe Todd would grow into the job.

30. Yep. Thats how I think of him as well.
He doesnt hesitate to hold someones feet to the fire, regardless of party affiliation. That and he's blunt. I like that.

I wish they'd give him Gregory's show. ugh. I'd actually even rather have Tucker back that watch David Gregory. That man makes me want to throw something.
