Fuck crossing bridges...Fuck bipartisanship !....
We can never work with Rethugs.... The divide is too deep...
They stand for all that is evil and stupid. hey are ignorant, knuckle dragging,
racist idiots who will never accept 21st century truths.

They should be considered a dying breed, a breed which needs to be
re-educated....They are not of "just a different opinion"...or a "different point of view"......They are simply WRONG on practically every issue !

So fuck Rethugs and fuck Bipartisanship !

Oh and especially FUCK LOSERMAN !...the snake of all time!!!!

1. Well unfortunately I believe that Obama is going to try and cross
the aisle so to speak. At least he seems to acting like it.

5. he's going to try getting a big majority of Americans
to support him. Smart move if you want to shift the country to the left. It's what he said he wanted to do.

Obama will move more center.

2. yeah, because alienating 55 million voters right off the bat
is such a brilliant tactic. damn. what a great idea. subtlety isn't exactly your strong point, is it? Oh, and substitute just a few words and this little screed of yours would fit in beautifully in freeperville.

13. Let's look at reality
Obama may be able to win over the more tolerant, but no matter what he does he will never win over the truly racist, bigoted, right wing, religious whack jobs that make up the Republican base.

He should concentrate on those that he can convince to cross over, and forget about those that will never support him!

If too much time is spent trying to win over the die hards, it will be precious time lost, and this country doesn't have the time to waste trying to convince people who would rather jump over a cliff then to do what's right for all Americans.

So, bring in those who are willing to work together for the good of all, and keep a close eye on those who would do anything in their power to make this new administration fail.

16. most people are persuadable. And that includes most repubs
Obama has a 65% approval rating now. That gives him a shitload of power to push through his agenda. Of course he'll never get the wingnut rethugs. But they are a minority. And he's not trying to get them on board. He's got repubs in high places singing hosannas about his appointments. And when those people start throwing shitfits, he'll be able to throw their words right back at them.

This man is a subtle thinker. It's like he's memorized The Art Of War.

21. actually, bush played the bipartisan card a lot
during his first few years. What did you think his empty rhetoric about "compassionate conservatism" was for? Secondly, how'd things work out for him after 2004? Oh, that's right he badly lost the 2006 election, and yes, bushco was the one who lost it. Also, between 2005 and 2006, bush did not do so well getting legislation through the Congress. Look what happened on Social Security.

Lastly, bush ended up impotent, giving new meaning to the words lame duck.

30. While I agree with you that...
...Obama needs to play some serious hardball with these slugs, I do not think it constructive to go into this with the attitude that we will get even. That could be a pleasant little bonus, but frankly, many things need to be drastically changed and we (I mean all citizens) don't need the input of Republican turds who aren't truly interested in solving the problems. We need to just do it and not give them anything. Make them earn it.

Some would rather sink down to their level than rise above. Lucky for us, Obama isnt going to govern that way. He took the high road during the election and I expect him to stay there.

33. You can't get anything done with republicans.. they are
already criticing Obama and calling it the Obama recession.. Stop being blind.. these people will never come to our side and Obama must realize this. We should never cave in our ideals to bring some republicans to our side. It is never going to happen. The ones that felt frustrated with Bush and the rpeublican party are already with us, they already voted for Obama and are already supporting Obama. The rest who voted against him, don't have anything to do with us.

12. I agree. Republicans have never crossed to us
and i know they will try to make Obama's presidency look like a cartoon. They will try everything in their power to destroy him and descredit him.. I don't understand why Democrats always fall for the bipartisan shit.. We have a mandate. People elected our party and crushed Republican's ideas - why do we have to cater to them? Why? They are evil and will never be satisfy with what we do.

Many repubs and independents are working Americans who probably only disagree with you on a few issues - but hopefully only an extreme minority of them demonize people they disagree with - just like hopefully only an extreme minority on the left.

He will not be using the office for righteous vengeance.

I suggest you might want to check with your doctor for some tranquilizers :)

28. there is a real historic opportunity to completely alienate the strident ideological right-wing
of the GOP. This is only possible if Republicans who do have some pragmatic and reality-based thinking are included at the table.

The Tom Delay's and Karl Rove's did more to rejuvenate the progressive movement and the Democratic Party than anyone could possibly imagine.

To adopt a Tom Delay/Karl Rove strategy might have some short term benefit. But in the long run would be politically suicidal.

Many of us on the left of the Democratic Party have come to recognize that the advancement of a progressive/left agenda requires that progressive issues be framed as moderate, reasonable and whenever possible, bipartisan.

the war
the patriot act
posse comitatus (sp)
immigration
domestic spying
internet neutrality
torture

of course that's not the DC gang for the most part
but you may have noticed, they are a shrinking Party

Ron Paul - Libertarians - Constitutionalists - Anti-choicers

so if you don't think we can use allies on these issues that we disagree with otherwise... without a filibuster proof majority...

then WE are "fucked," not them
