Dear PE: It's "Our Administration" not "My Administration"
I know this may be picky on my part but one of
the things I loathe about the SquatterInChief is
his tendency to talk about "his Administration"
or "his government." Considering that Obama
ran his campaign concentrating on "we" and not
"I", I wish he'd refer to the incoming adminis-
tration as "Our Administration" and not simply
as "My Administration." Kind of diminishes the
impression of this being a TEAM effort ...

7. Didn't hear that -- I've been waiting to hear this at all the recent pressers
If he's started referring to it in that way,
then ... NEVER MIND.

2. Yup, picky and petty. Perhaps he's trying to differentiate from
that other one's admin., the one that hasn't worked for 8 years?

8. I don't think so.
It's not about him anymore than it's about Sarah Palin. It's about us - Americans. It's OUR administration. We're his boss.

But feel free to claim the Bush Administration as "yours".

29. Indirectly, and in as much as they are paid with taxpayer money
but, technically, Obama's the boss of the people he chooses to be in his administration. He can hire and fire whomever he wants, whenever he wants. They serve at the pleasure of the President, not us.

The same is true for city workers. I don't think a garbage collector considers us to be his boss. Even though he's paid with taxpayer money, we have no say in whether he is hired or fired.

We're the boss of the people we elect -- Obama, Biden and the Congress. But the President is the boss of the people he selects for his administation.

Yet, his administration is tasked with serving WE THE PEOPLE..... But, I can not quibble if he says "his administration" because they DO serve at the pleasure of the President.

13. OUR government, but his administration. I believe that Obama intends to take
responsibility/ownership of the administration--and isn't that a refreshing change?

Not necessarily petty or picky, just misinformed, IMHO.

If he wants to refer to it as "his Administration" he has every right. Considering he ran for President and won.

23. Marrah, as usual you beat me to it.
I kind of like it when he mixes it up, saying both my and our. I think he does want to make sure that he listens to us. But he also wants and expects accountability, unlike Bush* who wants all the credit for anything that goes well (even though I can't think of anything), but none of the blame for all his failures.

One thing for sure, I'm glad I'm not in his shoes because he has inherited one huge mess that will take years to fix. Some folks will expect results right away and will complain when that doesn't happen. Other folks won't like the results that DO happen. And other people wouldn't like anything he does anyway.

18. Ummm. Its called "the Obama Administration".
And Obama is Obama. Therefore it is his.

I am not Obama. You are not Obama. Therefore it is not our Administration.

Also, *we* are not President. He is. Just in case you were wondering.

25. If Presidential Administrations are referred to as
the Bush Administration, the Clinton Administration and the Obama Administration, then it stands to reason that the possessive reference would be correct. Additionally, the people don't choose the Administration, the President does. So it's "his" or "her" Administration, not ours.
