Does it bother you that Obama hasn't attended church since the election? (Poll on AOL.com)
Right now the numbers are 51% say no, but 49% say yes.

71% say that it IS important for a U.S. President to regularly attend church!

So much for freedom of worship (which has to include the freedom NOT to worship) and separation of church and state!

Whether you are Christian, agnostic, atheist, Satanist or whatever - please go and vote "HELL, NO!" to both these questions!

1. He doesn't have a church at the moment.. He's moving to D.C.
I think it'll be ok.. While he's busy trying to save the nation, I'm sure God will forgive him for working and resting a bit.

2. Are you also sure that God exists?
As far as I am concerned, the existence of a Supreme Being comes into the category of "known unknowns" - things that we know we don't know.

But hey - who needs reason?

8. But only 29% say it's not important
Edited on Wed Nov-26-08 02:57 PM by Apollo11
I don't see much difference between "very important" and "somewhat important".

Any reasonable person can see that it's not important at all.

care to those who need it the most, bring troops home from an unpopular war and end fighting in Iraq, etc.

I think he's carrying out Christ's main, true, principles right there.

Although, yeah, maybe he should attend church because otherwise, he might not be "Christian" enough. :sarcasm:

24. BUSH NEVER JOINED A CHURCH!! Just another double standard brought to you by the MSM...link
Edited on Wed Nov-26-08 03:11 PM by rvablue
Bush USED religion, his "religion" in particular, to get him elected.

Fundamentalists and evangelicals thought he was the embodiment of the second coming or something.

Fact is, he rarely attended services OVER AN EIGHT YEAR PERIOD, and NEVER joined a congregation in Washington.

The Clintons went to church EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY.

Don't care either way. Frankly, I think it is inconvenient and disruptive for the regular parishoners....but whatever the Obama's decide is fine with me.

Below is a link to Media Matters proving that Bush hardly ever went to church, the Clintons went all of the time and that RW and the "Christian base" obviously don't care about hard, cold facts.

30. Voted NO and posted the following
There is no religious requirement or test for being elected to any office in this country and that is how it should be. We need to build the wall of separation between church and state higher than it is. I would be happier with an ethical atheist as President than anyone who wants to impose their theocratic structure on this country.

When one takes the oath of office, one is not even required to swear on any "holy book".

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

That's the full text. Nothing about "So help me God" and certainly nothing about placing one's hand on a book. I'm reminded of a legislator in Maryland sometime in the last eight years who said - and I'm paraphrasing - You placed your hand on the bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You didn't place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.

Every body clear on that now? Good. Now stop the nonsense. Go outside and look at the trees. You'll find far more inspiration there than you'll ever find in any "Religulous" observance'
