Statement from the Obama camp on the Mumbai attacks |
|
President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today's terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks.

1. Yes, those attacks were quite horrific. There was nothing but utter chaos in the streets. |

But seeing the implications of what happened today may lead to bigger thought-provoking issues here in America when it comes to choosing who gets to take part of the foreign relations circle in the next Administration. What it comes down to is that we need the most qualified and dignified foreign relations staff that can be found. The volatility of what is happening overseas these days dictate it.

2. This coordinated effort was apparently done on the cheap. |
|
That's the scary part. Junior has single-handedly increased hatred for the U.S. exponentially. Obama has his work cut out for him.

5. I understand that part |
|
But you seem to blame decades or even centuries old conflicts on Bush and imply that Obama is somehow expected to solve the situation. He has enough on his plate here in this country.

6. Do you not think Junior has accelerated hatred for the U.S.? |
|
I do. Obama becomes the face of foreign policy soon and as such he will no doubt deal with global terrorism, just as he said he would during the campaign.

7. Whatever does that have to do with Mumbai? |
|
Are you aware of where this is? Do you even know where India is on a map? Can you possibly be so naive as to believe this has anything to do with Bush, Obama or the United States.
Have you seen any of the coverage on the TV. It must remind you of the Black September attacks on the Olympic village in 1972, who was responsible for that.

to comment on world events, your condescension notwithstanding.
Seriously, if you don't understand this, Google is your friend.

9. It's been widely reported by Indian sources that the attackers |
|
targeted Westerners- including Americans. So yeah, it has something to do with the U.S. duh.
