This is the kind of efficiency we need to solve our energy crisis and dependency on foreign oil and reduce impact of global warming. I hope PE Obama speaks on this issue. :)

1. The cooking bags I've used in the oven do not cut cooking time.
They make the meat more moist, reduce the clean up mess and allow you to basically steam food in the oven but I have noticed only minor reductions in time.

2. The bag ususally cuts cooking time significantly
Approximate Roasting Times
Whole Turkey Cooked at 325º

Weight 8 to 12 pounds
Standard roasting: 3 to 3½ hours
Oven-Safe Bag: 1½ to 2 ¼ hours

======

But maybe it depends if the Turkey is a liberal or a conservative.

stuffing absorbs all the saturated fats from the turkey

7. But sometimes those cooking bags are lined with substances that emit harmful fumes
Remember that efficiency is only one part of the battle.

8. Another good point. Often the solution is bigger than the problem!
But shorter cooking time is big factor for me.
