3. That's a solid team. While I actually like Gates, that is probably temporary.
I would like to see a Democrat appointed there at some point. It's been a while since we had a Democratic Secretary of Defense.

4. The effect will be to allow State reclaim the power it lost under Bush
Edited on Sun Nov-30-08 01:07 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
With a hard-charger like Hillary in State and Gates a lame duck at Defense Hillary will have free reign for a year to regain State's traditional role in the intelligence apparatus from the DIA and Defense working groups and all the other banana-republic artifacts of the Bush era Defense Dept control of foreign policy and intelligence.

7. Thanks a lot
Now we get a real winger Republican as Governor of Arizona, plus she gets a 2 year head start on re-election. Next in line Jan Brewer.

9. Gates? Terrible choice. At
Thanksgiving dinner a Dem friend said it made Obama look weak - like he didn't know enough about the DoD to appoint someone who could take over from the get-go.

Leaving a repuke hack in place is not the change I was looking forward to.

10. Holder is a horrible choice for AG - Arch Drug Warrior
Wasn't he trying to make all marijuana possession a felony?
He'd have been a better choice for a rethug administration.
The others I have no problem with, but him? no fucking way. I hope his tenure is very short and that Obama keeps Holder's fascist nose out of drug policy.

End the War on Drugs now!
