An Apology!

To all fellow patrons of the Democratic Underground whom I have angered and hurt with my negative and bastardly posts regarding President-elect Obama and to those who support Hillary Clinton, whom I have not written pleasant things about on occasion. I can not express with words how badly I feel for letting my cynicism and disappointment get the better of me resulting in some shameful comments that I regret and wish I could take back now. I have no doubt President-elect Obama will do as he believes is best for this country and whom he includes in his cabinet is entirely his decision. I also wish Mrs. Clinton well in her new position. This is her opportunity to show us what she can accomplish. Apologies are also in order for some fellow Kerry supporters whom I have needled and sometimes pushed over the edge in debate or questioning. I want to add that I am not nor have I ever been a racist or pretended to know something when I did not. And, thanks to those who arranged for me to meet on several occasions, a true patriot and all around great man- Senator Kerry.

And finally, I want to thank the person or persons who alerted me to the moderator. Your intent was not to do me any favors I am sure, but you did. You put a stop to my out of control behavior and allowed me the time I needed to pull away and consider what I was actually doing here. Which brings me to this; I am suspending my time here at Democratic Underground and redirecting my energy in a more positive direction pursuing something that can make a real difference in someone’s life. My foray into politics has not been very productive or a very happy time and unfortunately this has resulted in me seeing a side of myself I do not care for. I am now going to do what I can to find that positive person in me again by redirecting my priorities. So, this is not a flame out, because I have enjoyed this site for four years now, but rather a spring board to something important and worthwhile. And, I will make this promise, if in the future I do post here, my posts will be positive and supportive and perhaps contain something relevant.

“THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES”

“Many's the time that we feasted
And many's the time that we fasted
Oh, well, it was swell while it lasted
We did have fun and no harm done”

Wisteria

4. I'm very touched by your post.
Edited on Sun Nov-30-08 06:27 PM by liberalmuse
I'm not a Kool-Aid drinking Clinton fan, but I am really sad that so many of my beloved liberals seem to hate them. Yes, Bill and Hillary are flawed, but they truly mean well, but there are millions of dollars in smear funds pitted against them. It hurts that this smear campaign of many years against them is succeeding. Liberals are smarter than this! Thank you for your most gracious post. It takes a really enlightened, decent, soulful human being to admit that they may have done something they needed to sit back and reflect upon. I have the utmost respect for you. Again, thank you. I'm deeply touched, even though your post had nothing to do with me. However, as with you, I know that maybe I have gone over the top myself, and sincerely hope I have not hurt anyone here. If I have, you have my utmost apologies.

5. I appreciate your OP in reference to your internal soul searching.
I very much hope, for your sake, that you find what it is that you are looking for to make you whole again....and know that you are not the only one who has been opposed to circumstances for so long, and has dealt with disappointment time and time again, until to some degree, perspective as to what is truly important has been too easily lost.

You are most likely on your way to recovery....from the hurt that you have experienced.

Good luck to you. :hi:

10. Wow... great post...
if you haven't gotten involved in politics in "real life" as opposed to the internet ... may I suggest doing so? It can be a lot of fun to help local candidates and your local party. There are people in office today that I helped get elected -- I find it very fulfilling, plus you meet some great people. Good luck, and I hope you find a good direction for your energy. Cheers!

15. So, you have found some darkness within yourself.
It drove you.

And that same dark self will now choose some other course possibly from its darkness, possibly not.

Better than nothing. Perhaps, perhaps not.

Hope you find some light to shed on that darkness, because then it disappears.

And the journey from there remains relentlessly clear.

20. Touching...
After wiping my tears after hearing and seeing Sarah McLaughlin's version of "Silent Night" on TV and showing all those homeless cats and dogs, again I have been moved by your post.

Maybe there's too much schmaltz for me everywhere I look. Gonna read a book now about cops and murders to jar me back to real life ;)

Keep behaving, but don't lose your perspective. Others have been very nasty (sometimes even me) and we're probably all sorry.

33. Good Luck wisteria
Politics is not an easy place to be involved in 24/7. Frankly if I really was a politician I would have lost it a long time ago. The point of DU is open discussion but not to take it TOO seriously or it can be too much. Taking a break is a good thing and everyone needs one now and then. Hope you still come back to say hi to us in the future.

I will miss you terribly if you don't. I know what you mean about this site bringing out the worst sometimes, well you know that I know that, now don't you. :) But it also helps to look at some of our misconceptions about people and how the world works. I agree that if you aren't doing things in the real world, this site could drain the life right out of you. But still, please check in now and again.

40. No need to apologize,
but I understand how this board can bring out the worst in people. I tend to be positive and have a sense of humor in life, not that it's expressed here. I tend to spend 90% of my time defending the Clintons against the constant bashing of so many on this board.

Take care and good luck.

48. Wow, it's a shame you're leaving
You and I agree on very much around here - there's a lot I'm not happy about, but I guess I just try to take my mind off it rather than get angry. Once you realize that you don't have a lot of control over politics and current events, you realize that getting angry about it and ranting on DU just makes you feel worse. I know, been there, done that, bought the T shirt. So I don't post nearly as much as I used to, because complaining doesn't do anything and I finally realized it doesn't make me feel better. I think it's great that you're going to channel your energies somewhere else; I have largely come to that conclusion as well. But I do hope I see you around here from time to time. You've been one of JK's most stalwart supporters all along and I know your heart is in the right place. Cheers and take care.
