What the media DIDN'T report about Decimal-gate
I think the media kind of blew the story out of proportion today, and they eliminated a lot of extra details about what was said. Here is what was actually said:

DISSING JOE OVER DECIMALS

Maybe President-elect Obama knows something about Biden’s mathematical abilities that we don’t, but today he razzed his VP multiple times over... decimals.

Here are the humorous exchanges:

Kid: I’ve been learning timetables.

Obama: Timetables? Well that's very good to learn. Decimals? Man, Joe doesn't even know his decimals I don't think.

Biden: Timestables. I'm not bad at but decimals? Woah!

And during a conversation later...

Another kid: We've been learning about multiplication and division with our decimals.

Obama: With decimals? Man! (Obama hits Biden on the back.) He can't even do decimals without the multiplication and division!

And again at third conversation later Obama admits that maybe it is HE who actually isn’t the best on decimals...

Obama: All of you are learning. If you're reading and you know your math, your decimals, your fractions and you know later on you're going to be learning about history and science. If you're learning all that stuff you're going to be able to get a good job and you're going to be able to help create new things that people use and that's what makes the country strong. And that's going to be one of my highest priorities.

Biden: And you may be President one day. (Biden puts arm on Obama's shoulder.)

Obama: That's possible. Although I don't know how I did on decimals.

Honestly, the exchange was more weird than anything. I wonder if the PE & VPE had a few drinks prior to the meeting.

1. Seems like some kind of inside joke. These guys seem like
they have a good relationship....the media is going to look for bullshit to say otherwise.

And on another note...they may have did a little wake and bake this morning.

;) :smoke:

4. You've never fibbed to a kid and told them that they're better than you?
Seems to me that's what they were doing. "Woah - you're doing decimals! Not even WE can do that, and we're running the country! You must be really awesome!"

13. I do that with my two-year-old all the time
I was away from the news for a few minutes and missed "decimal-gate", but if teasing Joe and complimenting some kids is the extent of it, then :eyes:.

... who we all know will be the next Attorney General.

I think history will show that Our President has a lot more to do with this Caroline thing than is obvious.

I know if *I* were the President .... I'd love to have someone whom I admired and respected take over the job when I was done. And if I could help make history in the process? Well, that would be cool too. ;)

18. Kinda like.......
.... offering to announce your VP pick via text message and/or email so thus creating a database of constituents that can be used to help lobby legislation through Congress after your elected?

"Dear friend, President Obama would like to sign the _____ bill but your Sen _____ is vowing to vote against it. Please call or write your congressman today and ask him to vote FOR the _____ bill."

BRILLIANT! Simply BRILLIANT!

6. Context is everything
For the next 4 years at least, we'll need to look at the context of everything the media reports on Obama/Biden, because you can bet it'll be slanted, and facts will be omitted.

16. The media didn't get the POINT about Decimal-gate
That's why they want to cause DIVISION and never get the POINT.
They try to MULTIPLY a POINT but forget that when you MULTIPLY by DECIMALS
you get a smaller number that has less value than the original number.

The whole thing is a fourth grade.
