48. This place is more painful now than it was during the primary
The most painful thing is how every fucking person feels the need to start their own thread on the subject, and there's no moderation to keep it under control (i.e. confined to a few threads instead of the entire forum.)

25. Well, he's spent most of November and December pissing on the people who walked miles of streets...
to elect him. Do you really think it was fat-cat DLC types out there doing the
canvassing? No, it was progressives and liberal lefties.

And for our trouble, we've gotten exactly *ZERO* representation in the Obama
administration. By comparison, Republicans are being treated like royalty.

Well, perhaps he can be re-elected in 2012 by Republicans.

40. And there it is
Liberal 22%
Moderate 44%
Conservative 34%

That's it in a nutshell. If President elect Obama wants a second term, he has to appeal to the majority of people who will be going to the polls in 2012. The best we can hope for is a center left Presidency.

because of socioeconomic factors, high school dropouts are disproportionately likely to be members of minority groups (who were already more predisposed to vote for Obama than McCain).

and we'll never get there if the left is ready to dump him so quickly over meaningless gestures.

What about healthcare? What about jobs? What about education?

Apparently none of that matters. We are doomed to having the likes of Palin running this nation because we don't know how to unify.

37. I'm getting the latter impression
But that's just me seeing sixty threads out of seventy-five on the first page of GD:P being various "Obama is teh evilz!" rants. Even the freepers aren't quite that focused in their vitriol right now.

Granted, considering the about of Marxist sloganeering going on last week, I'm kind of getting the impression the louder chunks of DU are somewhere to the left of Kucinich these days.

(And, IIRC, it actually is a bannable offense to vote the wrong way on some polls, so presumably some people wouldn't vote yes for that reason. Myself, I didn't vote at all, but that's because I'm outside of the US.)

I hope his term is successful and that he's the greatest leader since FDR.

I criticize him roundly. So far, I give him a C-. I think it is unfair that as PE he has been forced to be so proactive. It makes for a short honeymoon when you're "on call" all during the wedding night.

But, I like him more than dislike him. I admire his competence and the competence of his picks so far (although I think most of them are competent at the wrong things.)

Good luck and congratulations to PE Obama! My hopes are riding *heavily* on you.

57. If Obama has lost your vote already then you must want him to act like you all the time as president
Seriously, how can someone lose your vote in their next election four years from now, before they even take office?

If Obama is pissing you off to the point that you seriously think you might not vote for him in 2012 then you must be expecting him to do everything you would 100% of the time, which is being highly unrealistic.

The fact is Bush would have looked like he was going to govern more as a moderate then he actually did if you judged him solely on his original cabinet picks before taking office. Just because Obama doesn't always pick the people you wanted for his cabinet, and made a few PR moves that you feel give in too much to republicans doesn't mean that Obama is going to govern as a republican.

I'm done with voting for a candidate only because they have a "D" after their name. For example, if Tweety runs in PA I'll be campaigning for any person of any party who runs against the detestable sexist creep.
