Oh Happy Day...
From: SPECIAL GUIDELINES RELATING TO THE 2004 ELECTION (at DU)

Negative attacks are an unavoidable part of any political campaign, and therefore they are permitted against any Democratic presidential candidate. However, once the Democratic party officially nominates its candidate for president, then the time for fighting is over and the negative attacks against candidates must stop.

Wonder if we can convince the Admins to move this day up, if the Nominee is obvious? Ya know, before the convention, if possible?

IOW - Before July, if any candidate already has it locked.

Oh happy, happy day...

4. I agree. It should be changed.
Once the nominee is completely clear as it make's sense to stop the negative attacks.

You could put it to a vote.

5. Nah, after the last Primary, PA I believe.
It might be clear before then, but I think we should wait until all the votes are cast

7. June 8. Montana, New Jersey
Maybe once all the candidates drop and endorse. Which they better do once we have the winner apparent.

8. Whenever someone has it numerically locked is a good idea.

11. LOL, Well... If It Isn't Decided Until The Convention I Agree, But...
I'm thinkin the sooner we can circle our wagons in support of the presumptive nominee (the one who appears to have it locked up at some future point), the better. WHOEVER that person is.

If a candidate is the presumptive nominee by a large enough margin, I'm not sure what the point would be to keep the inter-party fight going. It won't change anything, and will just produce more wounds and anger!

Now, if it's some sort of virtual tie between two or three candidates, then that would mean a floor fight at the convention. Something that hasn't happened in a loooonnnggg time. And if so, then by all means, keep the discussion going.

Otherwise it will just be an unnecessary exercise in self-destruction.
