CBS and Dan Rather stood by their story and
they had experts backing them up.

Somehow, CBS has found there conscience and the spirit of Edward R. Murrow seems to be alive and well.

Hurray for CBS.

22. The great part of this is it is going ot generate some major ratings
for CBS as it picks up steam, and the word gets out. For the other networks and cable news channels to jump on the bandwagon now, they are going to have to untangle themselves from their forgery allegations. Either way they come out looking stupid. 3 cheers for CBS, excelletn work.

6. when i sent...
off my e-mail to them, i reminded them that they invented tv news and had a legacy to preserve of reporting with passion and conscience- murrow, cronkite, the old (and revived) Dan Rather.

7. They always had a conscience
Remember Rather said they held back anything bad about Iraq at the start of the war because of the pressure to be labelled as anti-American

Even that admission was significant

I think the Iraq stuff, all negative, will come quite frequently now. He's pissed that repukes went after his integrity and they will pay.

10. Bravo to CBS.
Tweety and Russert and everybody on Faux and CNN, and all the other pathetic, bought and paid for Bushbotic Ladies of the Evening News should fall down on their knees before Dan Rather, the last of the genuine journalists on TV. They are not worthy.

14. CBS even asked the WH questions about Bush. There's a first for this WH.
I just hope they stay on it. Like Conkrite. "This is the X \th day we have received no response". Every night until they do.

Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 06:25 PM by riverwalker
was to throw down the gauntlet to dumya. UNPRECEDENTED!!!!!!! He said "we asked the White House to answer these questions" then he listed them 1,2,3,4,5. about where he was, etc. "The White House has not responded other than to claim: we answered this before" Dan: This is not true, these questions have NOT been answered. We are still waiting". It was a thing of pure beauty, it was. Pure beauty.

20. I found what Bernstein had to say
last night on Topic A very appropriate. He said there was a time when journalists investigated stories. When something came along they searched for the facts. Now they just get people who take have opposite views on the facts, and let them shout it out. Whoever yells the loudest or has more people on their side, wins. The facts are disregarded.

Dare I hope this entire episode will give some modern day journalists pause?

I too hope the mainstream press it shook to their shoes about this incident.
I emailed all them and asked them to stop letting themselves be used by
rumor-generating operators and to stop reporting rumors as news. I
would think they would be appalled by the bullying tactics they are now
subjected to by the Right, but who knows.
