It is courageous that Obama has taken torture as seriously as he has
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 06:32 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
There is always room for improvement, but his picks and gestures thus far are as consistent with taking torture seriously as I could have expected.

It would be the easiest issue to weasel on and there is very little political upside, so it's a good principled thing.

(I do not and have never expected prosecutions so there are no signals of unmet expectations there.)

1. I agree
I just hope that he follows through with the Gitmo closing since there's a lot more involved than just issuing the order. If he wants it done, it will be done!

2. It is very courageous to take that stand, if
there is a terrorist attack in his Administration he will pay a heavy price. You know if we have any kind of terrorist attack no matter what the circumstances the MSM and the right wing are going to blame him.

4. It's sad that it's courgeous, but it is courageous
Obama, by trying to return American policies to a civilized level is being courageous, but that just shows how far off course Bush has steered this country. Bush has destroyed the basic human values that Obama hopes to restore.
