Lieberman lumps Dean, Bush; steps up criticism of Clark
NASHUA, Jan. 7 -- Sen. Joe Lieberman continued to attack front-runner Howard Dean Wednesday, on several occasions using the former-governor’s name in the same sentence as President Bush.

....

In what was billed as a “major speech,” Lieberman repeatedly invoked Dean’s name in his criticism, seemingly more so than that of Bush.

....

“With the latest version of Wes Clark’s position, the fact is, just like Howard Dean, Saddam Hussein, if they’d had their way, would still be in power instead of in prison,” Lieberman said.

....

“I’m actually very encouraged by these polls because they show a real undecided electorate,” he said. “They’re going to continue to take a second look at the candidates. I’ve moved up a little bit in the polling. I’m happy to have the voters compare me to Wes Clark… he took six different positions on whether we should’ve gone to war in Iraq.”

I am no fan of Lieberman, but I had to laugh at the six different positions on Iraq line. I found this a funny line.

Who knew Lieberman was such a pitbull he has proven to be in this month. He was especially harsh on Dean when Saddam was captured, and now he is throwing Clark in the mix with the same words. I really didn't expect this way back when I heard Lieberman would run.

2. No, I expected him to blame
Hollywood movies and the culture that they have spawned, just as the devil spawned all evil which flourishes and feeds on our young and causes oral sex, whereby a man unzips and a woman leans forward, her ripe plum lips ready and. . .

sorry. DAMN, I need a shower.

3. What Else is New?
Lieberman never has a good word for anyone, except Bush.

I hate whiners.

5. Lieberman sounds desperate
Attacking Dean and Clark makes Lieberman look small.
And it doesn't appear to be helping him much in the polls.

I guess this is his way of getting back at Gore for
endorsing Dean and Clinton for supporting Clark.

Saddam had no WMD or links to Al Qaeda; he was no
threat to the U.S. or his neighbors.

So Dean and Clark got it right and Bush and Lieberman got it wrong.
(Clark's had "six different positions on Iraq..." Bush had 20.)

Exactly why are WE better off spending over $100 billion
on a war that cost over 400 American lives?

Cheaper gas!?!?!?!

6. I thought it was just me.
Lieberman said that 'six times' thing on 'This Week' last Sunday. I was already turned off, but now I'm absolutely sick of him.

Is he trying to win the 'Rush' award for this election cycle?

7. yeah, Lieberman was always a funny guy
Wrong, but funny.

I'm not surprised at his aggressive campaigning at all. Don't you remember when he was on the trail with Gore, how all the rethugs who were his buddies back in the Senate where aghast at his playing the attack dog on the GOP all of a sudden? And with such enthusiasm? You don't build a political career like his being a sweethart.

9. If Lieberman had fought Bush-Cheney
with the vigor and determination he's shown against Dean and Clark he'd be a sitting vice president today. He's much better at attacking Democrats than he ever was at attacking Republicans.

11. I don't know - his attacks here have turned people off -
Lieberman and Kerry and Gephardt attacked Dean constantly, and Clark was the man who benefitted.

I didn't dislike Lieberman until 2002 when he started to tell everyone that he thought Gore's campaign ideas were bad and that "people vs. the powerful" was a poor theme.

I liked him a LOT during the 2000 campaign. I think if he'd attacked Bush and Cheney like he's attacking Dean and Clark now, he would've lost a lot of his appeal. Remember he was viewed as a real mensch. A good man. Not anymore.

12. I just keep remembering the Cheney debate
where he all but endorsed Cheney, and then, post-Florida, when he really did all he could to appear non-partisan. Sorry, that was not the time for non-partisanship.

13. I want Clark to debate Lieberman on Iraq
He will tear his ass up. Clark will leave nothing left of Lieberman. Joe compares Dean with Bush*, but Joe has stood with Bush* at every turn.
