Gillibrand is very good on issues related to transparency/good government
I know she is pro-gun and may not be as progressive as we'd like on some issues, but she has a very good record on transparency. She is one of only a few members who posts her daily schedule on her website, allowing her constituents to see everyone she meets with each day. Currently she's one of only 8 members of either house of Congress who does that: http://www.sunlightnetwork.com/punchclock/

So that's something I like about her, even if she might be a little more conservative than a Democratic senator from New York ought to be.

1. No way! She's anti-immigrant. NO WAY I would ever support her.

3. I didn't say you should support her, or that her position was good on everything
I just thought I'd highlight one positive thing that I remember reading about her a while ago. There are some things I like about her but I kind of wish we could have gotten someone a little more liberal from New York.

2. She is Joe Lieberman in drag. I just get a bad vibe about this selection.

4. Is this also payback for the Kennedy primary endorsement of Obama?
Probably a stupid question, but I haven't followed this all that closely.

8. Yes, also it would give Clinton/Schumer type DLCers even more control of the Senate.

5. No she's not
Sorry, but that's BS. She might be a little more conservative than we'd like, and I think we could do a little better for a senator from New York in terms of ideology. But she's hardly one of the most conservative members of the House...she's voted the right way most of the time. She would be a perfectly fine senator from Virginia or Missouri, but for New York I was hoping we'd get someone a little more progressive. But I hardly think she's "Joe Lieberman in drag".

7. Bat shit Conservative on IMPORTANT issues such as WAR, Tax Cuts for the Wealthy and Surveillance.
She's NOT satisfactory ... a "no go" for anyone who wishes for our party to be for the MIDDLE and WORKING Classes first, not putrid military and coroporate interests of the New Way/DLC.
