Why Rush is in trouble and why he is the perfect foil |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 09:08 PM by AllentownJake
Rush Limbaugh stands on no principle. There is really nothing he supports other than the Republican Party and whatever it supports that day and his own self promotion. He's an entertainer and a comedian and not the thinking type of comedian either. His comedy is lewd and crude and based on gender or racial stereotypes. He peppers that with political discourse repeating whatever the republican party is supporting that week. He is also a hateful human being and with all his money has been unable to convince any woman to stay with him that long.
During the Clinton years Rush would get his talking points from the Republican's in congress and during the Bush years from the White House. Make fun of democrats than repeat whatever bullshit the party was trying to sell to America that day.
The problem right now is no one is in charge of the Republican Party right now and the Republicans control no branch of governement. There is no leader who has the stature to give Rush a call and tell him his talking points so now after years of repeating the talking points of the day Rush has started to free lance and try to actually get involved in setting the Republican Party Agenda. Rush knows nothing about doing this. He's not a strategist he's a mouth piece and the only thing he knows is what his listeners like and to Rush the whole world is his listeners. He's a sales man that suddenly thinks he can get involved in designing the product.
Some people say giving Rush credibility is a bad thing because it might attract him more listeners. Rush has been around for over 20 years. People know what Rush has to say. The base of the Republican Party love this guy but outside the base he isn't liked and mostly despised.
Being called out by the President will put alot of pressure on Rush. President Obama made one statement and the progressive groups have picked up on it perfectly. If members of congress obstruct link them to Rush Limbaugh. Most Senators need moderate and independent votes to get elected. Senators and Representatives in safe regional districts can afford to have Rush as their spokesman. Those in not so safe districts need the Rush Limbaugh base but they can't win without attracting the moderates and independents. Therefore you give those representatives a choice, piss off Rush and his base or piss off the moderates and independents. Rush will be getting phonecalls from these congress critters asking him to calm down some in private some in public. Rush's ego will not take being called by these people. It will also have MSM types paying more attention to his show waiting for him to say something ridiculous. I expect Rush to crack and be back on pills by April if he didn't start popping them this week.

Never in my life have I encountered one person who has made so much money from misinforming so many.

2. So what exactly is going on with him lately? I keep hearing about him lately. |
|
Is it because Pres. Obama mentioned something about him or is it because of something else? I mean, I can't even listen to him for a couple minutes before I have to turn it. He is the most vulgar, chauvanistic, racist person I've heard on radio. I can't believe he hasn't been called on it and blackballed long ago.

It got a few headlines and President Obama told some congressman that they can't fix the country listening to Rush. Since than the progressive groups have decided to make Rush the partisan boogey man of the right.
From what I've been reading Rush has been acting more and more erratic than usual since he's been called out.

28. I think Rush's comment about wanting failure was after President Obama |
|
said in a bipartisan meeting that if they really want to fix the problems in the country they can't just listen to Limbaugh and do nothing else (paraphrased). Rush then chose to go after President Obama.
President Obama has moved on and is not taking part in Rush's latest tantrum. He has not mentioned or referred to him at all.

a decent person with that kind of money would be married once. What do you have to fight about when you have millions? The biggest cause for divorce amongst us little people is finances.

that rush is for the republican party only. i think its more to do with rightwing ideology than the republican party. thats why you hear him on his show talking about republicans who he doesn't think stand for the "right" principles.

|
I listen to the guy 3+ times a week.
Because the party is coming apart at the seams, all these conservative talk show hosts are having to choose sides. Limbaugh has chosen to continue to play a right-wing wacko. That's who his listeners are, and he will go broke if he changes.
The GOP leadership is trying to play a more moderate tune. But Limbaugh is way out there to the right of them. And he is hammering them every day. Its great!
The guy has gone rogue, and I am loving it.

You read it here first.

Excellent. You nailed it. He's an ass and a popular one. Lavish credibility as the Republican leader on Rush. Match him up with them so they are as one. Couldn't be better.
These guys melt when you fight back.

I'm a 30 year old internal auditor with a moderately high IQ and I can see what Obama is trying to do. The question is how they react.
The current response appears to be why is Obama attacking a private citizen. Rush Limbaugh is many things but he is not a private citizen.

The more of the base listening to Rush the more they will pull their party in that disastrous direction. I'm sure Rush's ratings were up during the election as well.
People outside the base can't stomache Rush Limbaugh. People who tune in to find out what the fuss is about will walk away disgusted.
They've been doing this shit to us for years. Substitute Rush for Barbara Striesand, George Clooney, Susan Sarandon or Tim Robbins. The only differenec is that those people have an actual talent other than tearing people down.
