2. No problem. I was hoping they'd get a new guy to play Obama.

3. It's not on yet here on the West Coast. Is Fred Armisen still playing Obama or did they
get someone else who was better?

5. The Biden character was great, but the rest of it was weak.
I guess it is true, they are having a hard time trying to figure out how to parady Obama!

6. Yeah. Biden's character has him DOWN! The personality, the smile, etc.
The Obama guy only has that one serious expression and he doesn't look OR sound like him. I was really hoping they'd find a new guy to play him. They didn't even HAVE any Obama skits for weeks which is why I thought maybe they WOULD get a new guy.

11. The Biden guy is great because he seems to show Joe's charm and joy when he plays him.
The problem with the Fred/Obama guy is he doesn't portray the charm, he can't flash the smile - it doesn't have to be as dazzling as Obama's (whose is??) but he portrays him as rather dour - which misses Obama's warmth and charm. Biden's guy has the charm down.

Fred did a good job when he did the "Cool" skit but he doesn't seem to get rest of his personality.

You just can't do a decent Obama impersonation without being able to flash a winning smile. It just wont work.

Big caveat - I didn't see the skit tonight, I'm going off of all the earlier skits.

13. EXACTLY...
I said the same thing about Fred not having Obama's smile (and never even tried) so he can't portray his essence. It's essential that the person playing Obama have SOME kind of charm/smile (like the Biden character does).

Tonight's skig was Obama talking from his office, switching back and forth between the sober news of the economy, etc. and memories of his inspirational events. But not one smile. Biden came in and interrupted, talking about how much more money they'll soon need for the stimulus plan and then about Amtrak. He was good, as usual.

I just saw the skit and I thought Fred did pretty good. He seems a little more relaxed.

19. Well, at least he got to show "diversity" with his character by showing two sides...
but still, no smile.
