Bipartisanship, and where it will get us..Nowhere according to the Uber Right |
|
I am not so worried about the push for bi partisanship as some seem to be. For one thing, most radical republicans will never sign on to it. It goes against their very grain. They would rather do a 180 on their principles than work with Democrats or the Democratic Party.
There are a few moderates who will cross over, but for the most part, we are going to be stuck with the mess the republicans have left and try and find our way out of it.
Where the attempt to reason with republicans works in our favor is with that middle 20 to 30% of moderate voters. As they watch the "partisans" on the right turn themselves inside out as the Democrats reach their hand out for the benefit of the country, they will be viewed in the long run as obstructionists who will do anything for power.
We always knew it, but the middle is pretty forgiving, and they really did not. I think they are becoming more aware every day.
President Obama, is putting a mirror up to them, and guess what, they have no reflection because they are vampires of power, sucking the very blood out of the American system
According to their new leader Steele, the attempt at bringing in both sides is "overrated"
WASHINGTON (CNN) — The new chairman of the Republican National Committee praised House Republicans Saturday for their universal opposition to President Obama's stimulus bill
This will be an interesting few weeks and months as we watch the right dive into an empty pool and bow down to the Rush contingency. The gift that keeps on giving

.... we Democrats and those stupid Republicans are all about rooting for our respective sides. WE would love nothing more than for the President to do a few victory loops around the Capitol with the Democratic Congressional delegation dancing behind him.
Sure, he's trying to get some bills passed ..... but he is no doubt thinking about 2012.
Independents .... which MANY American voters consider themselves to be ..... HATE partisanship. They hate the infighting and across the aisle bickering.
The "Change" meme will not work in four years. He's gotta come up with something new. No doubt the Republican candidate will be attacking him on everything that he supposedly did wrong during his first term. I believe his plan will be to say, "look, I TRIED to work with these guys. Remember me going to Capitol Hill? Remember my outstretched hand? And all they did was hold firm to the party line? Is THIS the attitude you want to put into the White House? One that says 'it's our way or nothing?'"
He's holding on to his base while working those in the middle who cant stand to see the partisanship. Garnering the support of the middle seems to be a pretty good strategy ..... worked last time.

hang onto for dear life, is the fear issue, and they can have it. Works in the short term, but always backfires when that is all you offer.
