Why did Diane Feinstein entertain Sarah Palin this weekend?
Why the hell is Diane Feinstein legitimatizing Palin as if she matters? Diane needs to get out of the way and retire or become an official Republican.

11. Is this the dinner you are referring to?
Palin's office also said she had plans to participate in a number of other nonpartisan functions while she's in Washington over the weekend, including a private dinner Friday night at the residence of prominent businessman and former Republican operative Fred Malek.

A number of Republican and Democratic senators are also on the guest list for that event, including Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-California, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/30/palin.dc/?iref=mpstoryview

It sounds to me that they were both guests at the same dinner which was not at Feinsteins house.

No mention in the first report today that this was a dinner given by somebody else. Just 'Palin had dinner with Diane Feinstein'.

31.  "Had dinner with" has a different connotation than your
Subject line that Feinstein "entertained" Palin. I won't ever forgive Feistein for Mukasey and there are many more points of disagreement with her. That said accusations of consorting with Palin ought to be better sourced and more accurate.

33. Keep in mind that this is the same media that made it sound like Pres Obama/Palin would be
on stage together Saturday night, etc...as if they were the only ones (or two of a handful of people) who were going to be at the event.
Reality: It was the Alfafa Dinner, Palin was invited by a club member (each of the 100 members could invite 1 or 2 guests, I believe?) and whoever is the sitting President goes to EVERY annual dinner the club has.
The dinner that she was at Friday night was at the home of the guy who helped run both chimpass' and Mclame's campaigns. Sidenote: Wikipedia's history of him reports he helped Nixon target Jewish government employees (for demotions)---tried to justify it by adding he ONLY did it after the FIFTH request--oh, THAT makes it much more acceptable :sarcasm:
He is also reported as being the one who told Elizabeth Edwards to "keep cancer off the campaign trail".
Nice people to be "pallin' around with", Sarah.

My guess: she is trying to build a foundation for running and looking for $upporter$..for something or other.

16. I wouldn't be surprised given Senator Feinstein's history...
In 1980, she married Richard C. Blum, an investment banker. Feinstein has received scrutiny for Blum's extensive business dealings with China and her past votes on trade issues with the country. Critics have argued that Feinstein's support, as a member of the Senate's Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee, of policies that may benefit her husband may raise the appearance of a conflict of interest.<6> Suburban newspaper Metro Silicon Valley reported in 2007 that Blum holds large investments in companies that have won large government contracts without competitive bidding. In April 2007, Feinstein's office denied there was a conflict of interest and stated that her departure from the subcommittee had nothing to do with the reports in the Metro weeklies.
As of December 2006, according to SEC filings and FedSpending.org, three corporations in which Blum's financial entities own a total of $1 billion in stock won considerable favor from the budgets of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In 2003, Feinstein was ranked the fifth-wealthiest senator, with an estimated net worth of $26 million.<7> By 2005 her net worth had increased to between $43 million and $99 million.<8> Her 347-page financial-disclosure statement<9> – characterized by the San Francisco Chronicle as "nearly the size of a phonebook" – draws clear lines between her assets and those of her husband, with many of her assets in blind trusts.<10>

30. That Road to Nome is not going to happen.
It's just doesn't seem practical. There's some pretty rough territory between Fairbanks and Nome. The state has a hard enough time maintaining the few roads we do have.
