Repub Rep Moran: Obama easier to work with than Bush
The day after filing to run for U.S. Senate, Rep. Jerry Moran told a Wichita audience that President Obama may be easier to work with than President George W. Bush was.

In a speech to the Agri-Business Council of Wichita, Moran said Friday that he's seeing "a different approach" from the White House and welcomes it after years of partisan fighting.

"The times I interacted with President Bush, generally, I'd get summoned to the White House because I disagreed with something that the president was for," said Moran, a Hays Republican. "He kind of lectured. It was about 'are you with me or against me' in the days of President Bush."

But in meeting with House Republicans, Obama told them what was important to him and asked the representatives what was important to them, Moran said. He said the president appeared to want to find "some level of common ground we can agree upon."

Commenting on a 2008 election that gave Democrats the presidency and large majorities in both houses of Congress, Moran said he thinks the message from voters was, "We want something different than what we've seen."

1. Bush got what he wanted out of Congress.
So, that's not a favorable comparison for Obama.

Bush rammed tax cuts and Medicare Part D and the Iraq war through Congress. So far, Obama is sipping cocktails with Republicans and naming them to his Cabinet.

8. Yes and Bush failed, so what the fuck is your point?
Don't you get it?

Bush failed because of this type of bullshit. His my way or the highway ideology ruined his presidency.

Do you really want Obama to be the left's version of Bush? Really?

9. The difference is that Obama has good ideas
and proposals. I just hope he's willing to fight for them.

12. What makes you say Bush failed?
He was put in office to loot the treasury, to cut taxes on the ultra-wealthy, to funnel hundreds of billions of dollars to corporate cronies, to drive down wages, destroy the middle class, ruin or privatize the infrastructure, and to bankrupt government at all levels so they would be forced to cut public services, welfare and health-care programs.

That was the goal.

I'd say he was a smashing success.

13. hahaha
You're kidding, right? He'll go down as one of the worst presidents in American history. Would you want that to happen to Obama?

Everything he did will be reversed over time. He was a failure.

15. Well
He may go down in history as the worst president -- or not (history is funny like that -- just look at the Reagan myth).

But he's go down in the corporatist history books as a giant.

4. Yay, the bushit is gone. It's time
for reality and people who are trying to help the country..not raid the treasury for their own use. And, throw our Soldiers to the wolves for their neocon imperialism.

10. Well, Moran would be better than Toddy Tiahrt, who's a Brownback lookalike at best.
But let's hope that by 2010 states like Kansas and Texas can do better than a Rethug.

16. Yet Moran still votes with the house Repubs' lockstep against the stimulus package?
.... :eyes:

(Please someone correct me if I'm wrong on this. Too lazy right now to google, though if I recall correctly the house rethugs were unanimous...)
