I got my LTTE published today Re Bush
http://www.mcall.com/news/opinion/letters/all-oberholtzer.6760871feb02,0,3593170.story

There were alot of RWingers last week repeating the keep it safe mantra in the LTTE section of my local paper so I fired this off at 5 in the morning.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
President George W. Bush did not keep us safe or make us safer. Osama bin Laden is still free and he is still making threats against our nation. If Bush had kept us safe, bin Laden would be in custody or dead.

It took us four years to defeat Hitler and the Empire of Japan, yet in seven years, President George W. Bush could not get bin Laden or his network in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Just like saying there are weapons of mass destruction and ties to al Qaida in Iraq, repeating nonsense doesn't make it true. President George W. Bush was a failure and no amount of trying to rewrite history will change that.

From the comments section they really didn't like it lol.

3. Wow... do you live in Freeperville?
So many of the comments are FreeRepublic worthy!

Good job! All the nay-sayers have are failed talking points. The mere fact that those points are still being spouted says the spouters have no critical thinking skills. If they did, they would choke on the lies they spew.

Keep up the good work!!

4. The people who comment on LTTE
tend to be right wing...and from the looks of it rather uneducated...going on there is like going to freeperville without worrying about being kicked off.

7. I just sent you an invite to my secret Writers Group, if you can get enough...
progressive posting smack downs, it drives the freeptards crazy.

I started my group in July using a newspaper in a very red part of the state and while I acknowledge the ground game was awesome, my county went blue for the first time since 64 and McCain HAD to hold this state & my county was supposed to be his bulwark.

19. I just read as many of the comments I could stand (about 10).
Wow! You really got the cream of the crap to comment on your so obviously-true letter. What a load of right-wing garbage you have caused. Is this the kind of people that live in Pennsylvania? I assume that the crazy comments are from "real Americans" in the tiny towns and rural trailer parks. They sound like they have been brainwashed by Limbaugh and Fox "News".

Luckily, a few sane voices are interspersed with the bush-worshipping screeching. But still, wow.

The local mindless-idiots will fall all over themselves trying to discredit your letter. That is because it was dead on. Be prepared for hate mail and be observant of your surroundings. These people are stupid and desperate.

Also, I was not attacked by a tiger during Bush's tenure. Also if you haven't noticed, the moon didn't crash into any portion of the earth at any point during those wonderful 8 years.

George Bush kept our nation safe from man-eating tigers and rogue planetoids just as certainly as he kept us safe from terrorists.

12. Tell matt_psu about the 2001 Anthrax attacks, too.
Rightists HATE it when you point that one out.

So much for their "no post-911 attacks under Bush" idiocy.

13. I know that the mainstream doesn't consider it politically correct but...
Bush was the reason the US intelligence was so totally inept on 9/11. The evidence is clear and non-controversial. I am absolutely dumbfounded that the republican idiots can still make stupid "Bush kept us safe..." bullshit argument.

And! It is OUR FAULT. We should NEVER have let that idiot off the hook for his massive 9/11 failure.

15. I've determined that whatever their talking points are
end up being their weakest points. they twist the truth, turn it upside down, and repeat it until it's burned into people's minds and accepted as reality.

Now, whenever I hear their claims/accusations/etc, I immediately note that they are probably guilty of what they just claimed they are heroes for stopping.

It's quite simple once you get your RERUSHICAN PROJECTION TRANSLATOR (vomit cleanser is extra).

20. That "again" is so weasely.
"the US was not attacked on our soil again during the Bush tenure."

Wouldn't it have been even better if we hadn't been attacked at all? What is this "again" nonsense? Gee, Michael Brown kept us safe from Katrina destroying New Orleans again, so I guess he's a hero too. And bush didn't invade Iraq for no reason again, therefore he was a cautious, statesman-like leader.

This game is too stupid to play. I'll leave it for the Limbaugh-Palinites.

18. Good job. The "he kept us safe after 9/11" line is total crap!
bush did not keep us safe from 9/11 itself even after months and months of warnings, culminating with a very explicit NIE warning one month in advance, about which he did absolutely nothing. Blaming 9/11 on Clinton won't work, unless they plan to blame any attack during Obama's terms on bush (which they don't; any such will be Obama's fault, count on it).

Fact: we were attacked on bush's watch due to bush's malfeasance. Saying "But he kept us safe afterwards" is specious nonsense from the delusional diehards in the shrunken, hideous Limbaugh-Palin Party. And of course they never address the fact that our blustery bullying in the Middle East has created thousands upon thousands of brand new America-hating terrorists.

Kept us safe! Don't make me laugh.

You said it better than I could.

I am in New Haven. Where did you publish your letter?

I am, by the way, pretty shameless, but boy did I like your letter!
