Today's lesson: career politicians who are early supporters with the hope
of getting a job with you will end up as embarrassment.

Richardson and Daschle.

3. Oh grow up.
Obama does not walk on water and he will be the first to say so, so why not accept this?

10. I'm unclear about your point in the op to me as well
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 12:24 PM by ErinBerin84
maybe that's what the poster is saying? LOL. What does her reply have to do with Obama "walking on water"? I personally don't get this op either, and I don't think Obama walks on water...

11. She has had other posts where she bristles at any comment
that does not praise Obama. I support Obama, agreed with all of his appointees - except for Daschle. But, either way, we should be able to criticize him for whatever reason we choose. This is what politics all about as Harry Truman well known comment about heat and kitchen.

And for her, like a mother hen to complain about DUers who do not worship the ground where he walks is... well, obsessive and completely non credible.

13. Well, is your point in the OP a criticism?
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 01:15 PM by ErinBerin84
I didn't really get it the first time. What do you mean by it? Thanks.

4. Except Daschle already has his seedlings ensconced throughout the administration
according to the reports of all his former staffers being there.

I think he was going to be in charge of a lot.

I don't think Richardson matters at all.

5. Richardson wasn't exactly an "early supporter", IMO....

6. He was when it counted.
He had several appointments with the Clinton administration. No one would even know who Richardson was and why he should have run were it not for Bill Clinton. When he was still in the race, he tried to position himself as combining the favorable traits of Clinton and Obama. He even had Bill Clinton at his house watching the Super Bowl together.

He then started a suspense game of who he was going to endorse. Came to Washington, D.C. talked to Blitzer to say that he was... thinking about it. So when he did endorse Obama it was a major event.
And it was clear that he wanted the V.P. post and if not, State. Then, anything, only to be there.

9. eh
early supporter and significant supporter is different in my opinion. Plus, the significance is very arguable. Not that big of a deal except to people who made it into an "insult" and "outrage"........I'm not sure what you're saying with the op...are you making a specific point, or is it a "it's a coincidence" post? Plus, wasn't it Bill who wanted to watch the superbowl with Richardson? Whatevs.

16. But yet who is a career politician who was clearly angling for a job,
and who realistically didn't endorse much later in the game than Richardson did.

14. Except you're wrong. Daschle was behind the push AND the organization setting up Obama nationally
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 01:22 PM by blm
to outmuscle the Clinton team. Clinton was the going away favorite and a small group of Dems knew that the grip the Clintons had on our party HAD to be broken if Dem values were to survive. Obama would not have been our nominee without that quiet group who used their national networks to outorganize the Clinton team. This is also why the Dem 'pundit class' on tv would not lift a finger to defend Daschle. Most are still Clinton loyalists.

Richardson did what any Dem of stature SHOULD have done after Obama prevailed on Super Tuesday - he got behind the KNOWN NOMINEE.
