2. It is a great show. And tough to watch. We had that, plus Frontline on Parkinsons.
A double dose of Bush screw ups.

3. There was a threat of "trouble" that was reported on the Friday before....
..... 9/11. I know because I can remember it like it was yesterday. I saw it on CNN. It was a warning to Americans travelling in Asia that there might be some Al Qaeda violence "at the first of next week."

We simply got the hemisphere wrong.

5. and that is why I believe
that had Gore been in the White House, it would not have happened. He would have been paying attention.

12. Al might very well have prevented it ... he chaired that airport-safety commission while he was v.p.
... the report that showed how shaky our airport security was. Had he taken his rightful place in the White House, I have no doubt this would have been one of his priorities. If they'd tightened up security just a little ... 9/11 might have been prevented (or at least might have resulted in fewer lives lost and less property destroyed).

6. Haha, that line at the end about how we're "safer" now..
The simple fact is that our country is already decimated, as a result of policies that were enabled by the 9/11 capital that Bush got. There's no terrarist in the world who needs do any sort of physical attacks on us anymore, we've already been destroyed from within!

Which, of course, went beyond their wildest dreams. Why would they even need an encore?

8. and the shocking part is that the damage we did to ourselves after 911
is so much greater and permanent than the event itself.

(said with respect to the victims and families)

9. I'm glad you posted this. I watched and it will show again at
11:00pm PST.

I always thought 911 would have been prevented had Gore been president like he should have been.

I remember hearing that President Clinton, upon leaving office told Bush, that the most important threat to this country was Al-Queda, and Bush ignored him. That smug little Bastard. Also, Condi, National Security advisor at that time, ignored Richard Clarke and only met with him 2 days before the 911 attacks. He new something was going to happen, he said he ran around with his hair on fire trying to get an appointment to see her.

At first I thought it might have been a LIHOP(let it happen on purpose), but now I think it was just absolute incompetence and neglect.

And the ultimate irony, Bush is now running around with his revisionist history, that he kept us all safe....hey Bush--remember 911 it happened on your watch!

Let's just hope that next time, if there is one, they connect the dots. I sure hope that the CIA, FBI and the NSA are cooperating with each other. It's pretty shocking that the 911 commission report contained nothing of the NSA spy info. I guess it's what I always thought; a complete WHITEWASH.............

Definitely worth watching! I so hope one day the REAL story will be told, stay tuned........

10. That was excellent.
What the hell was going on over there at the NSA? Why on earth would they have all that information and not share it? And how mysterious that it went "down" -- wasn't it right after Bush was installed?

13. I don't know that all the pieces could have been put together
given the lack of interest by the man at the top...

A lot of the pieces for Pearl Harbor were known too but it simply wasn't put together. (Read the Prange books on Pearl Harbor and Midway).

I think that had Bush taken the August memo seriously and this had been widely disseminated through the security apparatus then perhaps it would have been put together by someone somewhere. I blame Bush for not taking it seriously.

16. All I know is that after decades of preparing for attacks from missiles, the military was useless.
I mean, all that "Wargames" and "Red Dawn" stuff with realtime tracking of missiles, instant response systems, billion dollar planes flying in the air 24/7... And the military, right over our most populated areas, couldn't do anything but watch and let it happen.

Makes me wonder what the hell we paid for. WTF we have Army bases in Nebraska but we can't stop big-ass passenger jets from flying into the fucking World Trade Center???
