Republican primary?
A local conservative talk show host received phone call after phone call yesterday from angry republicans vowing NOT to support Bush in 2004. It was suggested that perhaps a republican contender should come around to challenge Bush. Is it too late? Would this help or hurt us?

3. God no. No intention for that at all
I'm no fan of Lieberman, but he's no republican.

Clark isn't anywhere NEAR that.

2. So now we're putting stock in right-wing radio?
These people are fringe. Don't expect that sentiment to run very deep or for very long with Republicans in general. It's nothing to get your hopes up over.

4. I agree
but it's interesting that finally republicans are showing signs of the capacity for questioning their leaders. A pretty rare thing if you ask me.

5. It is 100% over Bush's new immigration policy
Republicans always question their leaders when they stray from the conservative line.

6. Remember Pitchfork Pat versus Daddy Bush??
I don't see any serious challenger to Dumb-ya coming out of the GOP. Historically, they tend to be pretty lock-step with any incumbent they have.

However, there could be room for a right-of-center Third Party to rear its head, ala Ross Perot in 1992. I have several friends who generally vote conservative, but they are really getting steamed by Dumb-ya and his policies. They just about had kittens over this new immigration joke.

A passibly credible conservative third name on the ballot could really screw things for Bush like Nader screwed it up for Gore.

7. It would take an act of God for there to be a GOP primary this time around
IMHO.

When Bush was just a candidate, a path was bulldozed in front of him to get the nomination. McCain tried to inject some actual debate in the process, and was slimed like a Democrat. Republican voters have this delusion that they have control over the party.

8. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
Now, Monte Carlo, I am quite sure you know that God already told Pat Robertson who already told us that Bush will win! :silly:

9. It's too late
and political suicide. All we could hope for is Pat Buchanan in the GE.
