I'd consider it a fair trade. How come a Team of Rivals can't include some progressive Dems? Throw us a bone, Mr. Obama!

2. I think health care reform is too important to be relegated to bone-throwing.

6. Dr. Dean is both highly qualified AND a bone throw
He is a doctor who has lived a medical life in the trenches and his wife continues to do the same.

He is a Governor who was a pioneer in state sponsored healthcare when the feds couldn't get off their toporous asses to do anything.

He is UNIQUELY QUALIFIED (far more than Daschle EVER was) to assess solutions that work with the providers and the resources available and to build for the future.

He is unconstrained by industry influences.

He has a history of toughness and forthrightness.

I can't think of a better or more qualified individual than Dr. Howard Dean.

I personally don't give a rat's ass that he hasn't invested enough time on the cocktail weenie circuit or that he hasn't sucked up to enough DLC'ers who hate his guts because he showed them up as the old time party machine hacks that they are.

7. So play up his qualifications and not the fact that you want a new squeak toy.
Strategy: liberals can try using it, too.

3. Any chance, no matter how small, that Dean may not be interested?
It might be possible.

4. Reaching out to GOP is okay, reaching out to Democrats is not okay.
Giving the GOP a seat in Senate borders on treason!

5. How is replacing a conservative Republican with a moderate Republican
"giving the GOP a seat in the Senate?"

9. When reaching out to Republicans
a cattle prod, energized Tesla coil, or red-hot fireplace poker should be used to bridge the gap. :P
