What pisses me off most about yesterday. |

Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 05:39 AM by backscatter712
It's that we've lost an entire day that should have been used by the Obama Administration to shove the stimulus package down the Rethug's throats.
We didn't get that. That media blitz that Obama scheduled today? The only sound-bite those cockgobblers that are supposed to be our fourth estate would broadcast at all from Obama's interviews was "I screwed up." That's all they'd let us hear. Nothing but Daschle, Daschle, DASCHLE!!! Meanwhile, the Rethugs were going apeshit, saying "It's a SPENDING PACKAGE!!!111oneoneeleven" and rallying their zombie hordes in opposition to the stimulus bill.
Result? The stimulus will be watered down. Maybe it'll even be filibustered now. The Rethugs wet-dream - stalling and blocking any meaningful action that could possibly pull this economy out of its tailspin. They want our economy stalled. They want the middle class in America to evaporate. They want us all poor. They want us all enslaved, not daring to come out and speak up, for fear of losing our livelihoods. They don't want us to have health care. They don't want us to eat right, and they don't want us to be able to send our kids to school. What they want is not a middle-class first-world economy. They want feudalism, and they want us all to be their serfs.
Understand that. Their goal is to destroy the middle class. It's not good for business if you're a member of the Davos elite.
Daschle doesn't matter. He quit. The stimulus bill is all that matters, and people had better get back on track and get that damned thing passed.

the inability or unwillingness to recognize it as such is another.

7. See, even you're buying the righttard spin! |
|
The Rethugs would have you think the bill's stuffed with porkbarrel spending, but the parts they're bitching about add up to one or two percent of the total spending.

6. You hit the nail on the head. They have been trying to get rid of |
|
the middle class for quite some time now and it's working. You will either be with the rich or dirt fucking poor. It's amazing to me what's happening. They have the media reporting bad information and they have their people on 24/7 spouting off lies. And instead of us acting we're piling on.
I have called my useless senator...he's a fucking rethug anyway. Now I'm calling other senators and strongly encouraging them to get to fucking work.

11. The Bill Was In Trouble...Daschele Or No Dashele |
|
Yes, the stimulus package is a priority, but it's far from a done deal...it's been a work in progress. The word of the hour is negotiations and this is what is happening inside the beltway and out of view of the cameras. The Dachele thing, while unfortunate, is a distraction for the corporate media, I don't see it having any affect on where the stimulus bill is going.
There was no way President Obama was going to "cram" any bill down anyone's throat. That hasn't been his plan...this man, fortunately, knows the Senate, and also knows where the votes will come from. The reason the GOOP is making such big noise is they know this is the only tactic they have...try to freak Obama out from carrying out his plan to lure a couple moderates across. The risks for these Senators are too great.
What still hasn't come into play is the pressure Governors are going to put on getting this thing done. Having people like Crist and Schwartenegger and others come out in support will but pressure in the other direction...it's a slow squeeze that will get a bill passed with 62 or 63 votes.
President Obama has a lot of cards to play here and where we are now isn't where this stimulus bill will be in a week. IMHO, a bunch was put in now to be taken out...negotiation...and then it will come back again in other forms in future bills. In the end, if the Repugnicans look like they're obstructing in doing something/anything to help the economy, they write their political obit.

14. What gets me is how the media thinks actually working together and compromise is somehow a failure |
|
This is how the Senate always works, its slow, deliberate, and it takes time. Also, Bush shoved things down people's throats and it did not turn out so good. At least the Dems stopped him on Social Security "reform".
