David Frum on NPR reveals Bush's "fear" tactic
In a disgustng interview on today's NPR's Morning edition with Juan Williams, Richard Perle and David Frum were talking about how we need to have more laws and enforcement to protect us from the impending terrorist attacks in the future.

Frum, a speechwriter who worked with Bush, boiled it down with this:

"I'd like to say that we should vote to re-elect George Bush. If we don't, everything in our national security would fall apart."

Now that would make an easy Bush commercial, wouldn't it...

1. I heard the interview. They want national ID cards.
They were on Today Show yesterday. Just as it was getting good, with Lauerquestioning them about the ID cards, the affiliate switched to their local news (25 after the hour). Lauer didn't seem too happy with their approach, but it doesn't matter since the producers shut him down.

Perle is the Prince of Darkness, IMO. I can't stand David "Axis of Evil" Frum either. Unelected people trying to run the country.

Someone should post a transcript on Free Republic. That'll make 'em happy!

National ID Cards
Ability to revoke citizenship

They basically said we need all the Patriot Act II legislation plus more!

Coming on the heels of Bush's dimwitted pander to the Hispanic vote, this should reeeeeally please his base. Don't forget that this policy will be giving legitimate access to this country to people we know nothing about. Talk about homeland security!

4. RealAudio interview on NPR

Look for:

'How to Win the War on Terror'

from Morning Edition, Thursday , January 08, 2004
A recent Newsweek poll shows that about two-thirds of Americans approve of President Bush's policies to prevent new terrorist attacks on the United States. Only about a quarter disapprove. But a new book -- An End to Evil: How to Win the War on Terror -- by two leading Republicans argues that the United States is losing the will to fight the war on terror. NPR's Juan Williams spoke with the authors, Richard Perle and David Frum.
