My suggestion to President Obama for the Stimulus would be...
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 06:42 AM by Rebellious Republica
To call for a major press conference, have all the Media Pool gathered up with cameras, video and sound rolling. Walk out to the podium, look squarely into the camera and say " I have called this press conference to make a statement to the American voters, regardless of party affiliation if you are hurting and need some sort of financial assistance due to the poor economy.

I want you to know that I am working as hard as I possibly can to get you a stimulus package put out ASAP. However I am limited by congress and the Senate as to what I can do and how fast I can make it happen.

I told the American people at my inauguration that it was going to take all of us to make change happen. So, if you are not happy with your own situation, are concerned about your future, your children's future and your families future.

I call on you to voice your opinion to your elected Representatives, because it is in their hands now and up to them as to how long this process will take.

If you are comfortable with your situation and have no need for any sort of stimulus then allow the process to take its normal course and let your elected representatives haggle with and counter each other, you know business as usual.

Then he should just turn and walk away with out taking any questions from the press corps.

So what do guys think, put the onus squarely on the reps, put the ball in their court and let their constituents speak!

1. It is just a crazy world. I would go where the problem is.
Banks, housing and jobs. For the life of me I do not under stand giving the money to the very people who made the mess. It is like turning over your car, that does not work, to the guy that just fixed it. I would start with new rules for the Wall Street people and the Banks. This re-doing safe rules for those two places has been going on since RR and they need to be re-done and made tighter. It would have been easy for Bush to have put in a little thing in to the first bill that said how the money could have been spent. Obama seems to be having almost the same problem. It leaves me to believe it is all Congress. Time to vote their pay checks down and their pensions out. They are not doing their job.

2. I am surprised he has not done that
From what I have seen of Obama, he doesn't miss any punches.

3. I think he has already put the onus on the republicans
and the type of press conference you envision is uneccessary. I think it would make him look weak instead of having the effect that you want. The media would have a circus, and the press conference would be the story instead of the urgency of the situation.
