Obama can dictate the terms of America's recovery AND restore justice at the SAME time
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 11:03 AM by debbierlus
Here's how:

The media has become again relentless in parroting Republican spin as news. They go after every weakness Obama shows (no matter how small, they know it is just about controlling the daily news cycle). Even though all of the appointee nonsense pail in comparison to the criminality of the last eight years, news happens by the day, the hour, the second.

But, Obama can get what he wants done, dictate the terms, and create justice and restore the constitution all in one fail swoop.

How?

PROSECUTE THE REPUBLICANS CRIMES OF THE PAST EIGHT YEARS. A full criminal investigation into the Wall Street Banking Scandal. War crimes against the Bush administration. Investigations into Republicans who have committed REAL crimes. Hold the Republicans ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and expose their crimes. Obama really wants to change the tone in Washington? How about changing it from Democrats kissing Republican ass to KICKING their lying asses out of Washington?

Expose their role in the corruption of the banking system.

Expose their crimes. Shine light in every corner.

Right now, Obama has the chance to make the Republicans OWN the past eight years. And, he MUST do this...because if he doesn't, they will hang it around his head and offer him up as the scapegoat for the crimes they committed. He must STOP immediately trying to be bipartisan and rule SOLELY for the interest of the people. By doing this, he will control the news cycle spin and keep the focus on whom is responsible.

Bypass the fucking Republicans. Go directly to the American people. Talk to the citizens in daily press conferences. Control the daily message by relentlessly exposing truth. Tell the American people that the people who caused this mess are going to be criminally accountable for their actions, and tell them that investigations are the only way to expose truth. And, then, hold the investigations on tv.

As he does this, he lays out his proposals for fixing THEIR mess, all the while emphasizing that following the failed policies of those who are speaking against him is not an option. Point to the current crisis and say 'this is where their ideas lead us - OFF A CLIFF. Then, lay out his agenda. The American people will LOVE LOVE LOVE him for it. They will see a leader taking charge and doing what is right. They will trust him. And, with that, he can get legislation for the people PASSED.

As he does this, he should make the media rounds and remind them the consequences of reporting political spin as news. Let them know that this is not a game, but the American people's lives and futures. And, he should throw out that he is really surprised the media wants to go down this same failed road again, parroting lies as talking points and set up the same pseudo-dialogue that allowed Bush to lie America into war.

Obama impressed me the most when he gave his speech on race. It was the most eloquent, heart-felt, and honest speech of his career thus far. Simply because he spoke words of truth that acknowledge the complexity and struggles around the issue. He spoke to Americans as adults, and we loved him for it. That is what he needs to do now.

And, the Republicans will not know what hit them.

2. He's made it pretty clear he isn't going to prosecute.
I'd love to see alot of people jailed for what they did.

I am relatively sure I will never see that happen.

3. "Bypass the fucking Republicans. Go directly to the American people."
YES! That is most definitely what he should be doing.

Others have posted here that Obama made the mistake of putting 'bipartisanship' first and getting a stimulus package passed/the economy last.

BIG mistake. Obama came into office with beaucoup political capital that 'we the people' gave him and he ought to USE it. If not NOW, WHEN?

FORGET 'bipartisanship' - govern FOR THE PEOPLE - not for the Republicans. THEY were voted OUT of power in November for a reason.
