In my opinion Obama should address the nation in prime time |
|
He should lay out where our economy is headed without the stimulus bill. Here he needs to be specific. How many job losses are we looking at? Will we fall into a depression?
He could mention that neither he or the Democrats would have wanted this but that we have no other choice.
Point out the unemployment numbers and how tax cuts will not immediately create jobs and will do very little for our economy.
He could also discuss some specific examples where many people have been laid off in a small town and ask the nation how tax cuts would help them find jobs? Then go back to the stimulus bill and outline potential projects which would offer employment opportunities for those people.
At the end Obama can point out that as the leader of USA he will do what he thinks is right for the country. President should stress that this economic hardship will hit the red and blue states alike, and therefore Republicans need to put their partisanship aside and work with his administration so that they can pass this recovery bill.

2. I Would Like Him to Talk About What the War Cost. Too |
|
I sit and listen to the republican senators talking about our children's/grandchildren's debt. I never heard that talk from them while funding these worthless wars. I think Obama, as Rachel Maddow said, should realize "they're (the republicans) just not that into you," and move forward without them.

4. I think that was the plan the other day....instead he had to discuss |
|
daschle. Maybe he can try it again if the fucking media doesn't want to discuss his "perks" vs. wall streets raping of the country.

7. I heard that he will come close, |
|
via an address to a joint session of Congress on 2/20/09 (I think). While not officially a State of the Union address, it will be similar. I'm sure it will be broadcast live just as a real SOTU would be.
