They will only care if the stimulus is effective. Only the fucking namby-pamby media cares about the vote margin, and being overly concerned about the vote margin shows just how completely out of touch the American political media is about the lives of every day Americans who are suffering in this economy.

1. I think you are correct. If Republicans don't vote for it though, do you think their allies

in Petroleum, Media and Banking etc will try and screw things up so the Economy continues failing?

I wonder.

But then I feel certain Bush knew and was ready to take advantage of Sept 11th.

2. But if it is not effective, the number of Republicans voting for it will be important
That would enable them to use it as a campaign issue in the 2010 election.

4. No One In Feb. 2009 Can Possibly Predict The Issues of the 2010 Mid Term Elections
Edited on Thu Feb-05-09 01:40 PM by Yavin4
Who knows what they will be. Pulling out of Iraq, an improving economy, a political scandal, whatever.

What is important is to get this thing passed and get the win. It would be a colossal failure if this thing does not get passed.

3. The Hamper and Hastert the Hut believed if you win by more than one vote you gave up too much.
I don't want my party to be anything like them but there is some food for thought there.

5. The Republicans and Bush Were Partisan, But That's Not The Reason Why They Were Voted Out
They were voted out because their enacted POLIICIES were a failure, not their partisanship.

If, by some miracle, Iraq had turned out great, and they were a stable democracy and our troops came home in 6 months, then the Republicans would still be in the majority.

There's nothing wrong with being partisan, if you're fighting for good POLICIES.

6. You are correct.
Those on the right are doing their best to make it seem the GWB administration was an anomaly, that GOP policies would have led to Shangri-la if not for this one incompetent. But this crisis is yet another demonstration of failure brought about by the conservative agenda, 30 years in the making. To find a remarkably similar example you don't even have to go back as far as 100 years, not counting the clear warning of the S&L crisis.
