BINGO: Reagan without the Sacred Jacket in the Oval Office

U.S. President Ronald Reagan signs one of six Fiscal Year 1989 Appropriation Bills in the Oval Office

Was he "disrespecting the office" too? I thought Raygun NEVER was without his precious jacket in the Oval Office! That's what the Republicans said.

75. Yep. That's actually Chris Ramsey. He's a well known woodturner, and
probably the best hat turner out there. I've heard he's an incredibly nice man, but I've never met him.

That hat was created on a wood lathe, and then the brim was steam bent. He starts with chunks that are well over 100 lbs. and turns them so thin that the final weight is less than 1/2 lb.

Very impressive work from a talented artist. Too bad he's so fond of W. :puke:

Excellent thread on the subject from January 22:

So conservatives are upset because Obama doesn't look Reagan enough in the Oval Office and here we have a photo of Saint Ronnie himself, out of uniform.

22. It's the president's office..THEY determine the dresscode.
If a president felt comfortable conducting business in jeans & a tee shirt, it would be fully appropriate..as long as "official photos" were not being done..and they also determine that.. People do not just wander in and out of the oval office, taking candid shots with cell phones..

Presidents are somewhat captive in their own home. they have that home office, but the whole place is their home..

40. Obama or any president could be wearing warm ups and a t-shirt.
In the oval office, as long as he is doing work for the country and I, and not letting the need to fart dictate what this country needs. He can wear what ever the hell he wants. Cloths don't make a great president. I bet Lincoln did not keep his jacket on during the hot summers, and kept it on in the cold winter.

He was wearing a black... fleece? with an "Air Force One" logo on one side and his name on the other, much like the kind of gear * was fond of wearing. I'll see if I can find a photo...

Great find on all this... no limit to how much the Taliban types will lie and distort about even the most trivial and irrelevant things

On edit: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jE3FlLtgW6TwpHXAGGdF8Y0VSvdAD965PVC00">Here's an article containing a picture.

"I've got my spiffy jacket so I thought I'd come and show it off," Obama said, modelling his new blue air force souvenir, bearing the presidential seal and the words "Air Force One" and "Barack Obama."

Barack, please don't make a habit of letting them play dress-up doll with you. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth after 8 years of the preening action figure play we got from you-know-who...

'Cause you know what that guy did. When he was locked away in the Oval Office with lots of "work" to do, he'd slip into the bathroom and put on his clown suit, and then dance around the office while pretending to juggle his stamps and paper holders.

77. Reagan was white
his skin color, like all presidents except Obama, is kind of like a suit and tie.

79. I don't care if they work in pajamas
If you can't sleep at 2am and you have some paperwork to do, just shuffle on down, tell the SS guy to order you some cocoa,
and put your slippers up. Who the fuck cares???

82. Reagan's shirt is red
He must have been a commie sympathizer. (actually conservatism and communism are quite similar)

Seriously, great find. Bye bye right wing talking point.

83. Jesus H. Fucking Christ, but this is SUCH a NONISSUE!!!!
I don't care if our President works in his office naked. The clothes do not make the man. Bush spent 8 years with his jacket on in the Oval Office and look where it's gotten us!!

85. I would never picture Reagan wearing a bright red shirt.

That alone makes it a find.
