Pelosi and Reid must go. Business as usual should end.
I am frankly pissed off that Obama has been left to do the heavy lifting in Congress. I have not seen Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid get on national television or anywhere near the printed media and explain to America that this stimulus package is needed now, not when they decide to get back from their recess. It looks bad when Congress continues to play the same games under Democratic leadership with a Democratic President that brought us under this financial disaster in the Bush years. America wants to know where did the Paulson billions go in the previous stimulus package? I hear that Rahm Emanuel is pissed with Pelosi...So now, unfortunately, the war of words is being won by the do-nothing Republicans who are taking full advantage of Pelosi's and Reid's incompetence. So now Obama has to talk tough to get the do-nothing Congress to act. We need change right now or we will pay in the 2010 election cycle. Perhaps Barbara Boxer should take the Majority Leader spot in the Senate and perhaps Bob Wexler should take over as Speaker of the House.

1. Pelosi and Reid cannot command a national audience. Obama can.
Here is a clue: the Corporate Media has no interest in seeing this administration succeed.

2. Pelosi is at fault for putting unserious pork in the stimulus package.
She created a nice fat juicy target for Republicans who were itching to get back on their feet.

Even my Senator added pork to the Senate bill. I think people are getting fed up with this kind of thing.

5. They (Pelosi & Reid) are at fault because they've spent all these
years on their knees to the repubics that they've let it get out of hand.

really explain the package. This is the advantage of having the Presidency. He can command time and respect. This IS part of Obama's job - and one he is incredibly good at.

Peolsi got the bill passed in the House. If you blame her that no republicans voted for it - extend the same anger to Emanuel, who was said to have the ability to push the House to get things done.

6. Pelosi and Reid should not be the ones who present things to the media. They
are terrible on TV. There are plenty of other people who can do that in the House and the Senate. This is the priority.

Now, if there are enough people in the House or the Senate to find a new Speaker or majority leader, by all means do that. But, if there is not, at least do the right thing: find people who are able to communicate strongly. Get them out, and stop losing the media war.

7. Pelosi and Reid are just fine, but hey hate them all you want.
They aren't going anywhere. At least for the next 2 years so you might as well get use to it.

8. For business as usual to end, we'd need to get rid of

nearly every Republican in the House and Senate. Snow, Collins, Lugar and Voinivich can stay. As much as I dislike Collins, she's at least been willing to talk and work with Dems without the ideological and smotty remarks, unlike McNasty, Graham and most of the others.

But I agree that Reid is weak and should be replaced.
