Jobs and the Presidents who loose them
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 02:26 PM by stevebreeze
I was looking at an article in the Financial Times (here {http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/34d6448a-f44d-11dd-8e76-0000779fd2ac.html?nclick_check=1})
My eyes drifted over to a chart with date and great amounts of jobs lost all most had one thing in common.

here is the chart with my observation added.

Biggest monthly falls in President party affiliation
non-farm payrolls
Date Total
15/07/1956 -629 Eisenhower R
15/12/1974 -602 Ford R
6/02/2009 -598 Obama D
15/11/2008 -584 Bush II R
15/12/2008 -524 Bush II R
15/02/1958 -501 Eisenhower R
15/08/1959 -466 Eisenhower R
15/05/1980 -431 Carter D
15/10/1970 -430 Nixon R
15/10/2008 -423 Bush II R
15/09/2008 -403 Bush II R
15/02/1975 -378 Ford R
15/11/1974 -368 Ford R
15/01/1975 -360 Ford R
15/06/1952 -359 Eisenhower R
15/07/1982 -343 Reagan R
15/05/1960 -340 Eisenhower R
15/11/1953 -336 Eisenhower R
15/01/1982 -327 Reagan R
15/10/2001 -325 Bush II R

Please note these are the presidents at the time of the announcements. It takes 6 months to a year for economic policy to create much effect in unemployment data. So just as no one in their right mind would blame President Obama for number coming out less then a month after his inauguration you can't blame Ford for what Nixon created.

in 1974 (Ford).

2. Those numbers reflect January 2009 and prior .......
President Obama was Prez for 11 days in the month of January......6/02/2009 -598 Obama D

So this chart doesn't tell me as much as I'd like to know.

3. It's as plain as the noose on your face -
Republicans are bad for business.

(And no, that's not a typo. It's a comment.)
