My Congressman Zach Space: 170,000 OHIO JOBS TO BE CREATED WITH RECOVERY PLAN |
|
From Congressman Zach Space today:
170,000 OHIO JOBS TO BE CREATED WITH RECOVERY PLAN
Reacting to today’s announcement that more jobs were lost in January than in any month since 1974, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) today urged the Senate to move quickly on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. 598,000 Americans lost their jobs in January. This places the unemployment rate at 7.6%, the highest percentage in 16 years.
“There is no doubt that the economy is going to get worse before it gets better. But the actions we take now will determine how much worse and how long the recovery will take,” Space said.
“We need to move quickly to get a recovery package passed to help stem the tide of these massive job losses. Ohioans are suffering, and we cannot afford to wait any longer."
“My constituents are suffering, and we have an obligation to do what we can to help stimulate the economy. This plan will quickly put people to work as we make investments in our long-term economic stability.”
“It is never easy to vote to spend so much money, but given the choice between creating or saving jobs and doing nothing, the decision becomes clear. I believe that this plan will make great strides in creating the conditions to help stimulate our economy,” Space continued.
This plan has a number of benefits that will touch the lives of Ohio’s working families:
* Experts estimate that Ohio stands to save over 170,000 jobs, cutting unemployment by 2.4%.
* Over 4 million Ohioans are also expected to benefit from the Making Work Pay Tax Credit.
* Close to 600,000 Ohioan children are expected to find additional relief for their working parents through the Child Tax Credit.
* 257,000 families all across Ohio will benefit from over $147 million in Supplemental Security Income.
* Ohio can expect $2.8 billion for state Medicaid costs and $756 million to aid families with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance.
* The “Hope Credit,” designed to provide a tax credit for college, will become partially refundable, bringing an additional estimated 120,000 Ohio families the dream of giving their children the change at higher education.
* Ohio’s 18th Congressional District could receive over $50 million for school funding and construction.

2. I wish Obama and the Democrats would have presented the bill like your OP (or Zach Space) does. |
|
Obama needs to learn to dumb it down if he wants to get support for his proposals.
