Feinstein speaks out against Obama's Plan: 'I Think As We Dither, Rome Burns'
So there you have it, DiFi is having trouble supporting Obama. I am interested to find out what are the thoughts from our NY Senators Gillibrand and Schumer, especially Gillibrand. Feinstein is dead to me...

says she is opposed to the tax cuts and what has happened to the bill..poor wording from the author

WASHINGTON -- Convinced tax cuts will not stimulate the nation’s economy, Sen. Dianne Feinstein spoke out Friday against President Barack Obama's economic recovery package.

“I’m going increasingly concerned about the bill as to whether it is really going to be a stimulus,” she told fellow Senators during a debate of the bill.

Feinstein then roiled through a litany of California’s financial woes.

“I come from a state which has more people unemployed today than the population of over a dozen states,” she said. “A state where the bread lines are growing, Where the need for assistance is growing. Where the state has a huge deficit. Where counties are unable to fund their operating maintenance. Where all capital projects have stopped and where the state now furloughs employees.”
--------------------

What in my view a stimulus is, is not candidly speaking a tax package,” she said. “I do not believe in this economy tax cuts are simulative… I worry about this economy. The point of this package is to get jobs out to the people. So I reserve the right at the end of the day to vote against a package that does put those jobs out there.” . While Feinstein spoke out against the package, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada was trying to rally support for it.

"The world is waiting to see what we're going to do in the next 24 hours," said Reid, reflecting the Democrats' fierce urgency to wrap up the bill as conservative Republicans criticize the legislation and the economic picture grows bleaker

Give me a break. If there was any danger of this thing not passing, she wouldn't be getting her licks in, but she knows it's a done deal, she'll get her tax breaks, and so she's taking the opportunity to grandstand.

22. The tax cuts were an appeasement to the Republicans
Edited on Fri Feb-06-09 06:10 PM by olegramps
Obama and his crew of threw in the tax cuts in hope of getting Republican support. The Republicans shoved it right up his butt and stabbed him in the back. What the hell does a person who doesn't have a job get out of a tax cut?

I don't know when the Democrats will grow some balls and come right out and tell the American workers that the Republicans are their worst nightmare. There is nothing more than the Repuks would love is to have every worker in the nation working for a dollar and hour. Tell the workers that the Republicans are delighted to see the huge unemployment lines just rubbing their hands in glee and thinking just how little they will be able able to exploit the situation and hire these suckers for peanuts. Tell the workers that the Republicans are determined to drive the workers into bankruptcy and foreclose on everything the own. They will be buying it all up for ten cents on the dollar.

Its past time for a march on Washington and the banks with pitchforks.

The only way a Senator is going to make sure their pet project is taken seriously is if they say, "NO!" I don't particularly care for Feinstein but if I'm going to get my knickers in a twist it is going to be because the substance is wrong.

The question for Reid, Pelosi, and Obama to answer is can they make an honest promise to those Senators who are taking a backseat on this bill that their issues WILL BE AIRED OUT in future legislation in THIS session.

This is regular run of the mill politics that I've witnessed for the last 15 years.

Where is your beef with Feinstein?

Awful bill with PROVISION THAT DISALLOWED THE GOVERNMENT FROM NEGOTIATING PRICES WITH PHARMACIES.

Feinstein was very okay with that bill, and heartedly voted for it, giving a Repub-like speech on behalf of it, even.

It was shameful. I was so disappointed because I'd liked her up until then.

It was after that that I learned that the Repub Party, or some bill, granted something that benefited her husband's business affairs. Coincidence, I'm sure.
