Info-packed summary of current Senate discussions on economic package (the Hill)
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/stimulus-headed-for-weekend-vote-2009-02-06.html

... Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said he has the votes he needs to pass the stimulus with the support of two Republicans of “good will.”

But several of his colleagues are skeptical whether Reid has cemented a winning coalition just yet.

1. I wish Reid would just shut up and PUT UP instead!!
Call their bluff! If the Republicans filibuster, hold news conferences and shame the republicans in front of the country for blocking the bill that could create millions of jobs.

That's what the Republicans did when they were the majority. What the hell is wrong with Reid??

2. There are other substantial spending bills coming down the pipe later this month...
There are agreements in-process right now, according to the article.
If Reid bailed on those, the movable Republicans he's working with will lose influence in future finance negotiations.
If those same Senators aid in the bill's passage, they will likely have more influence in the coming spending bills.

That's how I see it.
Obviously, it will be a lot easier to understand what's going on after it's over :silly:

Reid, that man can get on my nerves though.
99% of the time when I read about him, all I can think of is how there are way better people to be doing his job.
