McCain looks even older than he did before the GE campaign. Wonder if he will invoke Joe the Plunger? If says "maverick" or "Joe the Plunger" I am getting wasted.
On edit: Johnny is mad he wasn't in on the negotiations. TS John, you are yesterday.

15. I have C-span up too and McCain was up almost 40 mins ago |
|
I also have CNN up and they just interviewed Alexrod LIVE However on a split screen they had McCain speaking on the floor.
Problem is McCain spoke almost an hour ago and the Senate is in on a break now, of course it was on the lou dobbs show.
I was watching C-Span and CNN on my computer at the same time.

edit--I don't know where the 827 billion figure can be verified, but I enjoy the way they keep saying it will be over a trillion if you include financing and interest. because obviously if we can't put a floor under the job hemorrhaging, that couldn't possibly have long term monetary risks.

by these asshats. They are the very ones that got this country in the shape it's in. Now all the sudden they're all worried about future generations baring the brunt of this bill. They sure didn't give a shit when they practically knocked each other down getting to the floor to vote for bush's budgets, tax cuts and emergency cash needed for a war in Iraq that is approaching the cost of a trillion dollars.
They are really playing up to the public how hard they tried to work with the dems, but they were shut out and how how they tried to save the american people from this horrific piece of legislation. I hate these bastids, I really do.

71. No senate vote of any kind tonight. They are just gathering cloture petitions. |
|
The procedure for "invoking cloture," or ending a filibuster, is as follows:
A minimum of sixteen senators must sign a petition for cloture. The petition may be presented by interrupting another Senator's speech. The clerk reads the petition. The cloture petition is ignored for one full day during which the Senate is sitting (If the petition is filed on a Friday, it is ignored until Monday, assuming that the Senate did not sit on Saturday or Sunday.) On the second calendar day during which the Senate sits after the presentation of the petition, after the Senate has been sitting for one hour, a "quorum call" is undertaken to ensure that a majority of the Senators are present. The President of the Senate or President pro tempore presents the petition. The Senate votes on the petition; three-fifths of the whole number of Senators (sixty with no vacancies) is the required majority; however, when cloture is invoked on a question of changing the rules of the Senate, two-thirds of the Senators voting (not necessarily two-thirds of all Senators) is the requisite majority. After cloture has been invoked, the following restrictions apply:
No more than thirty hours of debate may occur.<8> No Senator may speak for more than one hour. No amendments may be moved unless they were filed on the day in between the presentation of the petition and the actual cloture vote. All amendments must be relevant to the debate. Certain debates on procedure are not permissible. The presiding officer gains additional power in controlling debate. No other matters may be considered until the question upon which cloture was invoked is disposed of.

that nasty piece of shit and McCain is such a small-minded ideologue, he couldn't even disagree with Obama is a respectful way. John McCain has no integrity or character, and he's going to suffer the consequences when the economy starts to turn around, later this year.
I can't wait.
