A reported 42% in tax cuts and they're still not on board??? |
|
:wtf:
The Dems should write the damn bill and dare the Repukes to filibuster. "You don't like it? Fine. Don't vote for it, but if you block it, we'll make it clear to the public that the coming economic crash is your party's fault."
THAT is the way the GOP did business when they controlled congress. They didn't allow amendments or debate. They didn't give the Dems several days to read the bill. They put the bill they wanted up for a vote and threatened the Dems with the blame if something went wrong. "It will be your party's fault if we get attacked. It will be your party's fault if the economy sinks. It will be your party's fault if we lose the war. Etc., etc. ..."
I wish our side didn't have to stoop to their level, but what choice do we have? President Obama and the Dems tried to play nice. They tried to give the GOP a seat at the table. They tried to have a civilized, thoughtful, honest, non-partisan discussion and search for real solutions. The Republican party is not interested in any of that. They don't want to help America, they want to hurt Obama.
So ... call their damn bluff! Let them filibuster ... and have Dems out in full force on the cable news networks, the Sunday talk shows, the radio, the newspapers - EVERYWHERE - and let them tell the American people that the GOP is against creating jobs, helping Americans through these tough times and saving our economy.

1. The only way that any of that will happen is to get rid of Harry Reid and get someone... |
|
male/female that is strong to fill the spot... Also applies to the house.

2. We should use the nuclear option. Get 51 votes to repeal the fillibuster rule. |

14. The Republicans don't have to filibuster to block legislation. |
|
The mere threat of one sends Reid and company running for the hills or waving a surrender flag.

5. The problem is, if you tried it any other way. You wouldn't have the Blue Dog Democrats on board |
|
It amazes me people still don't understand the real problem in the Senate. The Blue Dogs remain a pain in the ass for Democratic Presidents.

You could start by moving over to the western slope and running against John Salazar!

The "blue dogs" like them or hate them helped us to get a majority in the house after the 2006 election. There are parts of the country, particularly in the south and in the west, that will not vote for a progressive. Would you rather keep them in the fold or send them further to the right?

11. Then give enough to get their votes ... |
|
but once they agree, that's it. No more debate. Forget the GOP. No matter what they get they will still come up with another excuse not to support it.

8. When Obama signs the bill he can issue a "Signing statement" |
|
To the effect that he has no intention of applying the tax cuts to higher income taxpayers.
I think there's a precedent.
