What constitutes "attacks"? |
|
I have seen a great deal of "attack" talk here at DU GD2004. I have also seen plenty of attacks on all the candidates but what really constitutes an attack?
I myself have posted quotes from a candidate only to be told my "baseless attacks" are not appreciated. Huh?
Yet we repeatedly see folks jump into threads, throw out a one liner nasty comment "well candidate X is a liar/baby-killer/kitten-eater/what-have-you" with n'ary a link nor quote to back it up. We seldom see these posters chided for "baseless attacks".
To put out quotes and/or facts on candidates is not attacking. To put out opinion that spins or exaggerates facts, or that are totally unrelated to any facts, is attacking.
What is everyone else's assesment of "attacks"? What constitutes an "attack" to you?

When Clark says "we can't nominate a democrat weak on national security" this is a fact that is labeled "an attack on Dean" by Dean supporters.
But when some Dean supporters debase themselves by chasing around the Clark campaign handing out slanderous flyers, that is clearly a desperate attack on Clark and Clark's character.
I must admit it's weird to see front-running Howard Dean lowering himself to this level. I hope he had nothing to do with it.

6. According to Skinner... |

Until after the primaries, all candidates are fair game. He said that, unless the "attacks" are inflammatory, he will allow criticism of candidates.
Some DUers are just a little too sensitive to criticism of their pet candidate.

You might want to post this question in the Ask the Administrators forum.
