NOTE TO EVERYONE IN CONGRESS: |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-07-09 10:32 AM by AndyA
Apparently, you haven't thought of this, so here is a fact you should be aware of:
In order for tax cuts to work, people have to have:
1. Jobs
and/or
2. Money to spend on things
Tax cuts don't benefit the millions who lost their jobs during the last year.
Tax cuts don't help get America back on its feet unless people actually HAVE MONEY TO SPEND.
So, a stimulus plan that consists of 42% tax cuts will not be effective, BECAUSE NO ONE HAS ANY MONEY TO SPEND, and thousands are losing their jobs every day, so a payroll tax really won't have an impact to them in the unemployment line.
Sorry if this is insulting, but after giving away billions to Wall Street without any requirements for them to actually DO SOMETHING WITH IT TO HELP THE ECONOMY, it's pretty obvious we have a bunch of idiots in Congress...just like the idiots on Wall Street Claire McCaskill mentioned.
Get a clue, Congress. The American people are finally waking up to see what's going on, and we don't like it! Clean up your act. You work for US...so do something FOR US.
(P.S., "Us" doesn't include corporations.)

1. The Republicans know this.. they just want the bill to suck so they can |
|
rail against it in 2010 and try and regain seats. They know what they are doing.

2. We must not let Republicans further destroy America |

They know that this is a once in a life time opportunity, arising from their disaster, that a Democratic President, House and Senate can change America for the better; making the economy work for all.
If that works, the Democratic Party is in for ages and they know it. So they need it to fail and our Democratic Senators are letting them undermine it.

3. They have a vested interest in insuring it doesn't work. |
|
They know THEY won't be hurt much - the constituents they care about are wealthy. So they pull out all the stimulation, substitute stuff that benefits their own wealthy contributors AND doesn't stimulate the economy (tax cuts - what a WIN WIN for them!). And then they can sit back and wait until 2010.

They have had a strategy in place for four decades, that despite every indication that their type of "governance" doesn't work, has enabled them to push the country in their desired direction. They are not going to go down without a fight.

5. the saddest thing about all of this |
|
is that the dems cave AGAIN and the bill will get passed. and then when the watered down bill doesn't work because it was watered down.... who's going to get blamed for that!!! it's infuriating to me.

7. Sorry, but even then they don't work |
|
We've seen this for the past 4 decades. If we want to grow the economy (a debatable topic), we need to invest in things that actually grow the economy. Simple.
