"Swing Voter" defined.... Great News! |
|
Last night I attended a Kerry organizing event, and they were outlining the Democratic Voter participation goals by the numbers.
In my Legislative District, they had estimated that we needed to turn out an extra 5500+ votes from the "Swing Voter" catagory in order to meet their stated goals.
I talked to the organizer and he explained that by their definition a "Swing Voter" is anyone who hasn't voted ALL DEMS on a recent ballots or who has voted Dem in one recent Presidential election and Republican in another (Reagan Democrats).
This definition of the term "Swing Voter" gave me tremendous hope for a Kerry win (and maybe landslide) in November.
Because my wife and I are BOTH members of the "Swing Voter" catagory according to their defintion. I voted for our local Republican Mayor and for John McCain in recent elections.
The thing is that if you met me, there is no way in HELL you would ever think I am a "swing voter". I'm anti-Bush all the way.
I wonder how many others out there are "Swing Voters" too, but are hard core anti-Bush at the same time.

I'm a swing voter, as I tend to not vote a straight party ticket. I know of some lifelong Republicans who will be voting Kerry this year. I still think Kerry will win in a landslide.
