I keep hearing THs say they hope Obama gets asked this question tomorrow:
"When you say you screwed up, what exactly WAS your mistake-choosing Daschle despite knowing about his tax problems or choosing him NOT knowing about his tax problems?" I've heard quite a few reporters, strategists, and THs saying even though it was very refreshing that a president admitted making a mistake, they still don't know what HE considers his mistake WAS. We know he said Daschle was uniquely qualified, so does that mean he would've chosen him despite knowing about his problems (meaning he DID allow for that "double standard" he says he regrets)? Or would he NOT have chosen him if he knew (which I don't think is the case)? Can anyone guess how he'll answer this if and when he's asked? This is the only question I'm afraid he won't have a clear answer for besides repeating that he screwed up, and that won't be acceptable.

2. I wish the THs would ask about the economy
Daschle is old news. 600K folks lost their jobs last month alone. If they want to focus on Daschle, the media will continue to make themselves irrelevant.

5. I agree. And hopefully they WILL
move on from Daschle. I've just heard several people on the news today still talking about it.

9. Remember how the THs kept moving the goalposts for Blago?
What did he (Obama) know? What did he know that Rahm knew? What did he not know? When did he not know what he didn't know? etc... The whole thing went away. The same with Daschle.

10. Yes. The story FINALLY stopped being connected to Obama.
Luckily, Blagojevich went on his media blitz and became the butt of many jokes. It was no longer about his connections to Obama or even Emanuel.

7. He was just trying to take the blame for the whole team. Thats all
You aren't going to get him to be anymore specific. Because he's trying to cover for the vetters and Daschle

11. So if he knew about Daschle's tax problems you think he wouldn't have
chosen him? Because I got the impression he would have since he was so qualified.

12. The tax issues came up after he had annouced Daschle
So the problem was actually with the vetters.

13. You can bet he's got that one covered......
... I dont know if this is common knowledge, but the President rehearses these pressers ... the big ones anyway like this one. With Gibbs or someone playing devil's advocate to prepare him for any and all possible questions.

I have no idea whether or not Robert mocks Chuch Todd's "ask a lame stupid question and then suck on a pen lustilly" method though.
