Fla. governor will appear at townhall

By JONATHAN MARTIN

Joining POTUS for his visit of hard-hit Ft. Myers, Fla: the Sunshine State’s Republican governor, Charlie Crist.

Aides to the governor confirm Crist will appear with Obama at the noon town hall planned for Tuesday.

Crist was one of a handful of GOP governors who affixed his name to a letter of state chief executives in support of the stimulus package.

Florida has been ravaged by the recession, thanks in large part to the collapse of the home construction industry and spike in foreclosures. The state faces a $2.4 million budget deficit that is growing.

1. Cool. Its to see people not be partisan whent he nation is in crisis
. Although, I don't think Crist was critical of Obama throughout the campaign.

4. Florida can't afford the GOP party-line bullshit, apparently.
When it comes down to actual bucks for a big, hurting state, political games take a backseat.

6. I do give credit to Crist when he does the right thing.
And he's done it on more than one occassion. Yes, I'd still rather see a Democrat in the Governor's post, but all things considered, Crist is still lightyears away from this abomination that preceded him:

7. Score.
This is good news. Pitting GOP Governors against the GOP in Congress? Well, that's just freaking brilliant.

8. He's thinking of his state and that's what he's supposed to do...
I'm glad he's not so ignorant as to sit on the sidelines while his state suffers.

9. Crist still has the ability to put his humanity ahead of his political allegiance,
And that is unheard of in the GOP. I am surprised they have not excommunicated him.

11. Crist all ready pissed off the rest of his party by extending Florida early voting...
He will probably end up being kicked under the GOP bus for supporting the stimulus.

14. I stiil don't like him because of:
1. Ammendment 1 was a DISASTER simply because it took money away from the state by severely lowering business and homeowner property taxes.

2. He supports the FCAT

3. Pro-Life

4. Suppports Florida’s Defense of Marriage Act (that said states do not have to recognize same-sex marriages)

5. Supports Eminent Domain

He is envrionmental friendly and tough on crime

16. house and senate can posture
the governors are the ones having to cut programs and cut jobs. the governors are the ones actually having to struggle with the effects of the economic crisis. states are buckling under the economic pressure. look at california!! look at florida!! I have seen patterson's plan for ny as well. it isn't good. and if congress doesn't do something soon, i can see how things will get much worse.
