To the guy who wanted a check in his mailbox- after you spend it

it will still be all the same. You used your check to buy something or pay down debt, but 6 months later, the larger landscape still has not changed. Your community has not been improved, and no long-term effect will be felt. It will have the same result as the tax rebate of last year - nice, but no long term effects.
