Like the stim package? Want it passed? Get off yer BUTTS!
If you think all the work was done know that O is President, well, you're wrong -- now starts the REAL work.

The GOP has only one plan for the next two years -- and that is to resurrect a comatose Party by any means necessary. They are framing it as "returning" to their (imaginary) fiscal conservative roots, but what it really is is submarining Obama at every chance possible -- if O gets his package and it works, it is all but over but the crying for the the Grand Old Party. O must not succeed in order for the GOP to survive -- it is that simple, and they know it.

So, get on the horn or send a fax -- let them know you are on to them, and that you will remember come next election time

And, for good measure, let the obstructing Blue Dogs know how you feel:

Blue Dog Co-Chair for Policy:  Rep. Dennis Moore (KS-3)

And while, you're at it, let O know you have his back on this:

My contribution to the effort, faxed out this morning:

Senator Mitch McConnell
Senator Richard Shelby
Representative John Boehner
Republican Chairman Michael Steele
Members of the Blue Dog Democrats

Just in case you all forgot, the American people soundly rejected the failed GOP/conservative mantra of tax cuts for the wealthiest/"trickle down economics" as the solution to the very serious financial problem our country is facing and, instead, overwhelmingly decided that Barack Obama and his ideas -- including his ideas on stimulating the economy -- are the correct path for our country.

You all didn't seem to have much of a problem spending 100s of billions of dollars on two dead-end wars. Nor did you seem to be overly concerned about how 100s of billions of taxpayer dollars was being spent by some of America's largest banking corporations.

At a time when all major economist are saying that massive government spending is the right solution for our economy, you have suddenly found "fiscal restraint".

Get with the damn program, people.

Alternative fuel vehicles for the government IS about America jobs.
Making government buildings energy efficient IS about American jobs.
School construction IS about American jobs.
Retrofitting Project 8 housing IS about American jobs.

Right now, you are acting as obstructionists and are part of the problem for our country, not the solution. Either get on board or get left behind -- 2010 and 2012 are not that far away -- we will remember just who was doing the right thing when it counted most.

1. Interesting. I tried to call the DC offices of my senators -
Cornyn and Hutchison. :puke:

Can't get through to either of them; phone lines must be jammed. Sent emails instead.

As well as Snowe and Collins. Tell them to Fully Fund Government and that our teachers, cops, road crews, museum curators, park rangers, medical researchers, climatologists, astronauts, etc., etc., are

REAL JOBS.

12. That's one thing that blew my mind.
What they were determining to be "pork" -- looked like a lot of good jobs to be had from much of the "pork".

Both my Grandmother and Grandfather were trained and worked under the WPA -- she as a nursing assitant and he as a dynamiter of tunnels. I live in a town FULL of WPA works, including a zoo and multiple murals -- today that would be considered "pork" but it was good jobs for San Franciscans back then.

18. Here's my draft
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 04:30 PM by GinaMaria
It could use some work, if anyone has any suggestions.

Dear XYZ,
If you do not have time to read the linked report from Moody’s, just look at the table on page 4. www.economy.com/mark-zandi/documents/assissing-the-impa...

This report was published by Moody’s in 2008 during talk of a Bush Stimulus plan. It lists the top (in terms of bang for the buck) economic stimulus measures. The top four are all under Spending Increases. In order of impact they are:

1. Temporary increase in food stamps
2. Extending Unemployment Insurance
3. Increased Infrastructure Spending
4. General Aid to state governments.

Tax cuts come after these four. The tax cut with the most bang for the buck is

5. Refundable lump sum tax rebate

This is the exact tax cut that republicans oppose.

Compromising and negotiating on facts is never a good policy especially for the tax payers in this country. We need you to get this right. We need you to be successful. We are counting on you, our elected officials, to spend our money in ways that benefit us. Re prioritize the economic recovery plan to benefit the tax payers in this country. We need a temporary increase in food stamps, extended unemployment insurance, an increase in infrastructure spending and aid to state governments before we need any tax cut.

Republican policies are failures. They have not worked. We need the opposite of a republican plan. We are all watching on the edge of our seats. Many Americans are losing their jobs and their homes. Do right by us, not by party affiliation. Country first means the people of this country.

Sincerely,
GinaMaria
